Gold pan parts help
I just bought a used gold pan & I am trying to recreate what I had as a kid in the lates 80’s/early 90’s.
I swapped out the 32 pitch gears in the trans for 48, I don’t remember who made the kit?
Also on the A-arms, I had black arms, who all made arms for these cars back then so I could narrow it done by looks?
And lastly, the dish wheels.
Thanks
Shawn

Re: Gold pan parts help
If you had black narrow arms perhaps they had been dyed black?

Welcome. Good luck on your rebuild project. Thorp 48 pitch gear conversion is most likely what you had, and probably Andy's arms in black. Dish wheels could have been Pro-line or Associated. Those are options for used parts. For new, JConcepts has fronts. For rears it will depend on whether you are using 1/4" or 3/16" rear axles.

Re: Gold pan parts help
Thorp I forgot about them.
I did dye the white parts black but I replaced the arms with aftermarket.
So many of the brand names that were popular back then seem to be gone or forgotten about.
Do any of the RC10T or GT or even the Worlds car fit as far as the Stealth trans?

Re: Gold pan parts help
The Worlds and 10T transmission is the same as the Team Car. Other than drilling new holes, it's a direct fit. Factory Works has the drill template.DodgeDude99 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 19, 2022 10:08 am Do any of the RC10T or GT or even the Worlds car fit as far as the Stealth trans?
The GT input shaft, slipper, and idle gear is the same as the above.
Worlds re-re used a different case, idle gear, input shaft, and slipper assembly. The newer shaft and slipper will swap to early transmissions. I'd avoid the re-re case and idle gear.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Re: Gold pan parts help
First, all Chinese build. Then swapped for a USA case leaving the Chinese idler. Last is with the USA case and idler.

The USA case and idler spin very freely with no break in. The Chinese idler appears to be slightly oversize creating a lot of drag. The case must be swapped to use the USA idler since they changed the location of the bearing for the idler on the Chinese set.
