Yokomo Wing 4 Motor - Turns?

Post by jeekelemental »

Hi all! Several weeks ago I've bought this Yokomo motor and yesterday I found the time to open it.
The seller says it's 15x1 turns but wire seems to thin and the armature so full to be correct, any guess? Or info?

How many wire strands are there under the folded tabs of the commutator? One of the tabs will have more than the others, but the others will at least tell you if it's a single wind, double, etc. Unfortunately no easy way to tell how many turns are on it.

Not sure about that one but sometimes they engrave the turn/wind on the can somewhere around the motor screw holes.
I was old school - when old school wasn't cool !

I have to check it better, I haven't my rc stuff here in Venice and it's possible that the pic shows were windings starts/ends.

Well, I've checked if there is any engrave on the can or somewhere else but there isn't anyting.

I've shot some pics showing the wires tabs on the armature and to me it's a double...

That's the problem with used modified motors....unless the turns & winds are written on the armature you can't figure out what they are, and even if the info is written on the arm, you can never be sure it's the original one that came in the motor can. :?

Recently I've purchased a Wing Stock RF and a Wing 2 in the attempt to form the complete Wing motors line up. The Wing 2 seller have been so kind sending me some old advs regarding Yokomo motors that clear the point about turns:
YMW4 Wing 4 Modified Motor 16 turn single
YMW2 Wing 2 Modified Motor 15 turn single
YMW RF Wing Stock Motor 23 turn single
YMW BG Wing Stock Motor 15 turn single

Hope it helps others if interested in Yokomo motors.
