Brushless Turns Equivalents to Brushed Turns

My brain is turning but I'm not getting nowhere quick

I'm sure there is a chart somewhere out there to tell us what the equivalent brushless motor turns are to brushed motor turns. Maybe this can be a quick and painless fix for me and possibly others. Any links people are willing to share would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Speed-T that has a 4800Kv motor. I asked Horizon hobbies, and they said this was an equivalent to a 9.5T motor, if compared to a sensored one.

The Higher the Kv, the lower T motor it would be compared to....

This chart might help as well. If you look at the Kv4 (RPM/volt) matched up to the turns of the motor, it can get you close.

from what I have seen, 17.5 brushless is roughly equivalent to 27t brushed stock and are raced together, and 13.5 brushless matches up against 19T brushed motors. anything lower than that I don't know.

From what our gang has seen at several off road tracks a 19T spec motor seems to fall between a 10.5 and 13.5. Guys switch to 19T spec brushed for the tracks that combine 13.5/19, 10.5 for 10.5/19 tracks.

My rough guesses just based on observation and talking to various skill level drivers:

17T ~ 10.5
14T ~ 8.5
12T ~ 7.5
10T ~ 6.5
7T ~ 4.5

it is REALLY hard to put a brushed equivalent onto these motors due to the torque involved. a 17.5 is equal to a 27T is a joke (and I say that watching the brushless stock motors kill the brushed ones)...geared the same, the 27T will kill it in top end. the brushed motors have more RPM than the "equal" brushless motor, but with the torque difference, brushless takes the cake.

To further this arguement....

17.5 Novak is rated 2200 Kv @ 7.2 volts = 15480 RPM.
a decent 27T motor is 25000 + RPM, and I have seen them in the 27~28 range (team drivers at regional/national events)

No comparision, but a 17.5 geared right will kill a 27T.

So better question would be, what are you trying to accomplish with a brushless motor and shoot for that, not try to match a brushed motor you currently run.


Oh...a 10.5 was supposed to be close to a 12 turn brushed at one time...

what I heard was brushless x 1.78 = brushed. someone says 1.8 for 10.5T (or 11.5) and less, 1.7 for over 10.5T
I had LRP X11 4.5T/5.5T/6.5T and run Orion vortex 6.5T/7.5T these days. this 1.7~1.8 muliplication seems to work to me

BLS 4.5T = Brushed 8T (4.5x1.8=8.1)
BLS 5.5T = Brushed 10T (5.5x1.8=9.9)
BLS 6.5T = Brushed 12T (6.5x1.8=11.7)
BLS 10.5T = Brushed 19T (10.5x1.8=18.9)
BLS 13.5T = Brushed 23T (13.5x1.7=22.95)

it's NOT a correct table. but not quite worng I think.
in my case, Reedy Ti 12T = LRP X11 6.5T and, Orion 6.5T showed better performance than these two.
