ID an old kyosho nitro car chassis?

Post by Freaky1 »

Hello,
Was recently given 2 older kyosho nitros by two different people. Would like to get an ID on one and no idea where to start. Will post pics.

Has an OS Max (CZ) pull start not shown that's currently soaking.

OK, so after I read up on how to, I'll post pics.

looks like the the Thunderbird or ZR1 version as it has the suspension set up for on road. If it has foam tires it’s the Thunderbird. I can’t tell if it’s those or some other tire, definitely not the ZR1 tires. The flip top cap was an option but came stock on the Thunderbird. It is a rampage series and parts should be pretty easy to find.

Many thanks! I'll start parts digging now.
Guessing the OS is a 12 but now that I have a model, should be much easier.

Parts are long discontinued so eBay or Facebook groups are going to be your primary source unless you have a local shop that was busy back in the day and didn’t sell everything

Really need to find a manual. I see that tough racing carries the belt by same part number, but no idea what that is. Thinking I need to just start with the manual and figure things out.

Thanks again

The closest one you will find easily is for the Rampage buggy. There are small changes like shock mounting but for the most part it’s the exact same platform.
