XXT runner project
XXT runner project
After getting the itch to own the stadium truck from my youth that I never had, some research led me to this place and after reading a couple build threads I knew it had to be an XXT. Scooped this project truck off eBay last week and already have some parts in the mail to get it rolling. I believe this was a XXT CR from the graphite parts that are already on it? Also what year might this be from? Hoping mid 90s. I believe that axles are MIPs and might be factory? Any info on what I have would be greatly appreciated!

Re: XXT runner project
Welcome. This place is a great source for information on these trucks. The XXT is my favorite truck. Here is a bit of info to hopefully help you out.
The XXT came in 3 different versions:
XXT
XXT CR - XL frame, revised rear arms and mounts, etc
XXT CR Graphite Plus - XL graphite frame, all Graphite arms and pieces.
It looks like you have the L length chassis, not the XL. (the chassis will have a L or XL in this location from my picture) This tells me it was likely a CR that received some graphite part upgrades by the previous owner. This length of chassis will better fit the first generation bodies.
I believe the XX series came out around 94' and continued until 97-98'.
Your axles appear to be steel MIP cvd units. The silver MK1 motor plate is a nice addition. They are the most desirable and can be hard to find.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: XXT runner project
Thank you for the very informative reply. Really good info there but I'm disappointed to report back. Im guessing this is a bastardized buggy chassis but it seems to have xxt front body mount? Bummer, guess I'll be hunting for a L or XL chassis.
Thanks again for the info!

I couldn't make out the letter on the chassis from your original photos. I could only see it was a single digit, so I assumed L. Yes, it is a buggy chassis converted to truck. Don't see that done very often!

Re: XXT runner project
Well I guess my next question is if I get a G+ chassis is the battery hold down the only thing that's different? Same servo mount and front brace will work?
Re: XXT runner project
The next issue... Starting to think I should have just held out for a complete truck. The previous guy drilled out the front arm pivot holes for what appears to be a 3mm screw. Time to find some new front arms.
Re: XXT runner project
To answer the chassis question, yes the chassis and the battery strap are the only difference....
