I was a bit heartbroken when I had to sell my mint Hi-Lux build last year. Link here: https://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=44190
Well, finding this shrink wrapped truck definitely makes up for it!
It's pretty crazy that a 30 year old truck like this is still sealed in the box. This thing came out in 1990.
I haven't yet broken the seal to open it up. Honestly, it is really going to be hard to do. I am planning on building this one using some vintage upgrades. Hi cap shocks, universals, upgraded steering, and possibly upgraded transmission are all on the want list.
Painting and decaling the first body was a huge pain in the ass! This body and box art are notorious for taking many hours and being very difficult to get just right. Although my first attempt looked very good, it wasn't perfect, and that really bugged me. If I can work up the nerve to open and build this truck, I have already learned some secrets to painting and decaling the body.
Hi cap shocks have already been found. I am still hunting for the rest of the upgrades on my list.

Re: Tamiya Hi-Lux Monster Racer NIB
One of the very best looking RC Stadium Trucks of all time imho. And it's all about the body.
To find this NIB - I can't imagine what you must have paid for it. Awesome!
If/when you decide to build it, could you please post a detailed build series here? ...for those of us who'll probably never have the pleasure of owning one of these. I'll be watching for sure.

Re: Tamiya Hi-Lux Monster Racer NIB
Thanks guys!
I have not been able to get myself to open this kit. I am considering selling it, because I don't know if I can talk myself into building it. The fact that it's still shrinkwrapped makes it very difficult for me to open.
I may offer it up for sale at the price I paid for it. If it doesn't sell, I could feel better about opening it up then, lol.
I managed to find these nice universal upgrades.
