Looking for advice for an old newbie
Looking for advice for an old newbie
Long story short, I'm just getting back into RC after 25+ year absence. I bought a Worlds rere and need to stuff it with electronics.
Normally I would research these things a little more but I have scored a pretty decent discount through Amain for today only, and need someone to tell me if I'm on the right track or have something mis-matched, out of place, overkill, won't work together, ect.
Futaba 3pv radio - because the 4PLS is on backorder
ProTekRC 100SS servo
Reedy Sonic 540-M3 17.5
Reedy Wolfpack 2S shorty (3800mah)
Tekin 1158 RSX sensored brushless
Pro Tex RC Prodigy Touch 680 charger.
Thanks in advance.

that looks like a nice chunk of change, but it's all really decent equipment. if you are OK with the cart price, I doubt you will be disappointed.
of anything there, I would say you could probably get away with a cheaper ESC, however Tekin is certainly an industry standard and very likely a super piece of equipment.

That's a list of real nice parts there. You're not taking a dive by buying the 3PV radio either. That's what I run myself.

Thank you for the input. Precisely what I'm looking for.jwscab wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2017 4:51 pm that looks like a nice chunk of change, but it's all really decent equipment. if you are OK with the cart price, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Yeah, I don't mind paying for good quality stuff, and I like to buy that will be capable beyond an entry level. I just don't want to make a wrong choice that ends up costing more money in the long run because a lot of this stuff is quite new to me since I'm only familiar with the NiCd days.
I have a question. What would be the purpose of having more than 2 channels on a buggy radio?

Oh, thanks for the input. Did you go for the one with the 304SB telemetry receiver?Shady Rascal wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2017 6:41 pm That's a list of real nice parts there. You're not taking a dive by buying the 3PV radio either. That's what I run myself.
How the hell does that work, anyway?

Re: Looking for advice for an old newbie
I didn't get the 3PV with Telemetry. I got the lesser one. The reason I got the radio in the first place was to consolidate all of my stuff to one radio. The radio has 10 model memory so each time I build something else I just buy another receiver and bind it to the radio. So one radio runs all of my stuff. I get these receivers since they don't use an antenna. I'm not so old school that I want an antenna sticking through my car body. They only cost 3 dollars more than the cheap receiver.NokeRC10 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:02 pmOh, thanks for the input. As far as the third channel, I use mine for all my models. In this case, the truck has a two speed transmission that uses the third channel to shift. The third channel gives you room to grow if your interests ever expand beyond basic buggies.
