I bought perhaps the crappiest roller chassis on eBay all year. For some reason I was feeling froggy and offered the seller half his asking price and he accepted. About that time I was asking myself what I was thinking.



Honestly, what attracted me to the car was that I paid about what the arms are worth.



It's a genuine beater.

The plan for this car is to make it a solid runner, but leave it scrappy. I have another build going on that I'm getting fully mental on the details. That's not the point of this one.

The game plan is very simple. Clean it up, Stealth trans, hex 2.2 wheels, B4.1 FT shocks. No new ground will be broken.













Now, I have a question. Which set of holes do I use on the rear arm mounts ? I have referenced all of the normal online manuals for these cars and it appears different era cars used the forward (short wheelbase) and others used the rear (long wheelbase) holes. Which set should this rookie use ?

Edit : I think I answered my own question. I'm guessing they are Hot Trick collars. I'll save them for trade fodder.

Trust, I have and have seen much worse. That buggy is in pretty good shape and has some of the parts that are known issues already sorted out. This should turn out nicely

The project has kind of changed directions. I just wasn't feeling the carbon and gold theme. Then I found an eBay chop shop that had a big sale going on last weekend. So, one project has evolved into two projects. I've got some goodies coming from gomachV for the gold one now to change directions into something I like better. The Worlds car got the Andy's arms, Lunsford goodies, Carbon Works parts, and hex drive wheel setup. The gold car is going more of a stock theme.

As for the arm holes, whatever you want. Everyone has a different preference. Just try one, and if it doesn't work, try another. Wheel use may also dictate which ones are available. Just start in the middle holes if you want.

Nice upgrade on the B4 front caster blocks.

Still making progress but waiting for parts is the main holdup as I'm sure y'all are used to.

I did take a set of 4.1 RTR shocks and strip the blue anodizing off.



And I bought this horrible parts car for 21 bucks.





The only really salvageable parts were exactly what I needed, the Stealth and the front arms. The arms are kind of janky, but they will do till better ones come along. The Stealth got rebuilt with Avid bearings and everything got the peroxide bath. I had to drill and tap the fourth hole on the motor plate but now it's all installed for the final time.





Currently waiting on a bunch of hardware from Amain and two sets of turnbuckles from Lunsford.

Thank you Lonestar. I'm purposefully keeping this one scrappy but trying to use very good parts on it. There will be a lot of titanium hardware and the hinge pins and turnbuckles are Lunsford. All bearings are fresh and high quality. So it will look kind of beat up, but when someone looks close they will see that it is well sorted.

I'm also building a black pan car at the same time too. That one is the "nice" one.

It surprised me. I had put my bid at 34 dollars and figured there was no way I'd get the car for that. When it went for 21 I was pleased.



In the end I didn't get too many usable parts from the car, but what I needed was there.

Veritable steal at that price. Hinge pins arm mounts rear shocks etc.
