Need Help with Making Decals

Post by slotcarrod »

Hi Guys.

We (Ed and I) are in need of some help making white Lavco Decals.

I have fantastic Lavco scans from Bad Brad Reelfs, and Edwin has placed them all on a proof to get printed locally in NZ. This is the problem, the lettering on the proofs are in black, but we need them in white, Ed's guy can not print white. The decals need to be printed on clear sheets with white ink.

Anyone out there that can help with printing white on clear decals?

Just chatted with a guy last night about printing stickers and he said white isn't a big deal anymore as much it was a few years ago.
Our kids play together I can direct you to him if no-one here can do it. PM.

I used white vinyl waterproof inkjet sticker paper for the stickers I made for the Buick GNX body. Since the stickers are white to begin with, it shouldn't hard to do that.

Thanks Mark, but the background is clear with pure white logo. Like most RC decals.

I'd be in to finance setup costs and get a higher volume etc. I also did not succeed to find a printer until now.

So, can you do this if we send you the proof?

Ah ok, I understand...well, I tried printable clear waterproof vinyl sticker paper before the white vinyl, but my results were not very good...the stickers were too transparent. Putting them on a dark body, the body would show through the colored areas of the stickers. It didn't work well at all.

You might have to check with a vinyl printing business and see what they can do.

over here there its very limited when it comes to printing stuff

there are six printing firms, and none of them can print white, they all say the same thing, which is to print on white and have a black edge and trim carefully...

not really a option im afraid

Or, have a background color that matches the body color as much as possible, then X-Acto the edges within 1mm of the white parts. That's essentially what I did, printing on white vinyl paper to attach to a black-painted body; I needed to make it black surrounding each of the colored areas so that white edges wouldn't show on the stickers when applied.
