speed run tires

attempted to do some super fast speed runs with my graphite and I was wondering what kind of tires to run. I've read about people using foams. I'm also at a loss of what can be run on the front since the wheels need the bearings in them.

ive got a set of bolink racing tires but id like something more modern.

HI!... Many companies now make belted radial tires for fast RC cars. Most are good up to 85MPH, some for over 100.

I did look into those and all i could find are 1/8 tires sets.

Hi,

What about these Prolines, 2.2 Prime VTR's, they are for carpet or clay, look like slicks, just mount

them to buggy wheels, get the hardest compound.

HI!... I run Traxxas Anaconda tires on my faster street cars. Never had a problem up to 65mph.

guess i should have said im looking at trying to hit 100mph I have anaconda's but those balloon up too.

I did some test runs with the bolink foams and they hold up to full throttle so far.

I'm running into the same issue...I have HPI's vintage wheel/tire combo on my one RC10 and they are really good. When running I can't see them balloon and the handling is stable. If I zip the throttle while holding the car in the air they balloon slightly. They are old school sized though...2" I believe. Also the offset wasn't right...had to slice and dice the wheels (inside lip to the outside to create the room I needed), but I got them to work...





I want to go back to my vintage Mini Mags though and am waiting on foams to arrive. For my other car I currently have Pro-Line rears (not the primes...just regular off road tires) and they balloon like crazy. I'm trying to do this car using 2.2" wheels to look more like a buggy then a lowered road car. I recently received a set of slicks from Panther using their special "gold" compound - not listed on their site. They tell me these are designed to keep ballooning down - waiting on new rims so we'll see how well they work.

I really have a feeling that I'm going to need to use foams for the speed runs but hopefully I'm pleasantly surprised with the Panther slicks. Good luck - report back with your findings I'll do the same.

Look at BSR capped foam tires. They are good up to about 100 mph but they'll start to fly apart much above that.

I keep seeing pan car wheels but w/o a proper adapter, it doesnt help. I've no experience with pan cars either so im not even sure of where to start with those.

im not too happy with their color but these might have a chance of holding up.

i dont fully understand tire compounds but the higher the number, the harder the tire usually is?

If you go to BSR, look up dirt oval tires. You can get them for 3/16" pin drive axles. The width is also not as wide as pan car wheels.

thanks, i have a feeling im about to have one fast little rc10. now if i could stop adding weight. added a castle bec, motor fan, and making the front tower run 1.02 shocks lol

Man that's great info...wish I knew that before I converted my stuff to hex! lol

I scored some Tamiya foam tires for my vintage Mini Mags and they seem to work great although it was a bit dark when I initially tested. I also got the Panther slicks mounted up but it's nasty weather around here now so I won't be able to really test anything for a while...
