Off topic: Salt flats speed run
Just got a call from my pops, they just broke a worlds record by about 6mph
Combo is funny as hell tho. Turbocharged Mercury flathead making ~180whp, Megasquirt CFI style injection in a Nissan lol
My dad was just there for support, the driver is a good friend of ours.

Re: Off topic: Salt flats speed run
They had to beat 138.XX mph, ran a 143 (my numbers earlier were wrong) so tomorrow they must run over 135 to average over the old record. Car is currently in impound

Cool, congrats to them!
So.... what kind of class did it run in? Based off the motor, or the chassis, or...?

Re: Off topic: Salt flats speed run
They backed it up this morning, so they made it. The class is for the Flathead, and I'm sure there is more to it. Ill try to get more details when they get back. It a very strange combo but the Nissan body is supposedly one of the better budget aero choices

Re: Off topic: Salt flats speed run
Edit...apparently the mustang wasn't the previous record holder as the record was 40 years old. Google fail

Cool. Congrats to the team. That s13/v8 combo is pretty popular in drifting too, although I doubt they use flatheads for that.

Re: Off topic: Salt flats speed run
you'd have to have oil injectors in front of the rear tires lmao! Pretty sure that car in stock form would have beat that mph!justinspeed79 wrote: although I doubt they use flatheads for that.
They didn't have to do much to make the altered class

Re: Off topic: Salt flats speed run
They backed up the second record this morning, average of 153.6mph. After impound and tech they will be headed home with two new world records. The engine is coming out and the car converted back to street duty
