Caged slim chassis RC10

Post by DennisM »

Another attempt at a caged Buggy.

My original plan was to cut and TIG a rail cage out of stainless pipe, but that´s going to be a winter project.

For now it´s just the good ol´ruler and some aluminum rods.
Apart from the front arms, shocks and turnbuckles all parts used are AE - A mash up indeed! :D

I still need to sort the rear shock tower and bulkhead - Shock tower needs to be black and the bulkhead (original) was planned for my Graphite.
Regarding the rear bulkhead - It´s going to powered by LiPo, so I figured the best solution would be a re-release one dyed black?

A set of wide Andy´s or RPM front arms will replace the Ultima ones when sourced.

Nice build :)
I would go with a dyed rere bulkhead.... I'm not sure, but i think the rere bulkhead/plastic gets a bit too soft after a dye boil (not sure how hard/sturdy it was before i dyed it)
Maybe someone else have noticed this.
Anyways... looking forward to see this develop into something rad.

Many thanks for the kind words.
Regarding the bulkheads -
The front is a 10T and the rear is 10B (to my knownledge)

Rear bulkhead seems a bit "wobley" where the upper suspension arms mount, I guees that´s why it almost "never" break.

Today we had our maiden voyage
I´ll never make fun of an old Stealth gearbox again - It runs very smooth.

ESC - Could be a Mtroniks/Carson 11T, not sure.
Motor - Reedy modified red dot.
RX - Multiplex Pico 4/5 FM
TX - Graupner XR-6FM race.

It runs surprisingly nice, will need a bit more modern rims and rubber though

Thanks for the kind words, Gents.

The soldering would be interesting to try out.
I´ve done it a couple of times with brass, copper and steel with okay results.

If I can find the material locally, I´ll give it a shot.

Update picture with running "shoes"
2,2´s was too big for my taste, so I ended up with 3 piece wheels with halfworn Schumacher´s.
Were there matching 3 piece wheels for the front?

Reminds me of the Javelin...which is a good thing as I consider it among the best looking RC cars out there
