running my Cougar 2

Hey guys

I finished off my Cougar 2 rebuild at the weekend, with the geared gearbox in place (Thanks Mr. Serious )
I tested it out on carpet, stuck an old 12 double brushed motor in it !
diff was slipping, so I tightened that up a little.
but the problem is I don't have a slipper layshaft I can fit to this gearbox without some handy modifying...
So, for now although the car runs great, and has a nice turn of speed, I CANNOT keep the front wheels on the track.
I even threw about 30grams of lead on the front, and it still pops up under the lightest of throttle

12t is a lot of power without a slipper. I have a 11t in my Egress and I thats going to be madness.

Does the speedo have a torque adjustment?

Must admit - I never really found a big difference when we went to LiPo batteries - just more consistant punch throughout a run.

A freshly built 12t Double is always going to be a bit 'much' for any 2wd without a slipper!

The nominal run voltage for a LiPo pack is about a volt higher than for a 6 cell NiCd or NiMh pack. Roughly equivelent to an extra cell. The 7.4v rating on a LiPo pack is its discharged voltage. -J

I did just pick up another brushless speedo, so I think I'll stick a 17.5 or 13.5 in there.
It sure was fun with the 12 double though.
The gears are new, all my belt stuff is used, so I knew this would work well.

I have a couple of these geared transmissions plus new internals. Can't say that I love them but I did find a use for it in my Storm truck out in the sand on the beach.
