1990s RC10 Vintage Racer Build
I've been collecting parts for a while now and have decided to build a "period correct" racer. Early 1990s style yo... and I want it to look like it's been raced as well. I've always loved the race reports from RC magazines of that era, and when I'm done I want to try to do a photo shoot as well. But that's a long time off as winter is about to rear it's ugly head...
I've got a chassis/transmission/universals and a few other items in transit right now. The turnbuckles need a bit of love from the dremel to make them look like they aren't 25 years old.

Re: 1990s RC10 Vintage Racer Build
I've got a few more pieces for this build chassis, transmission, universals to name a few. The motor place is almost too nice to cut up. Almost.... muah ha ha haaa!
Time to fire up my period correct 25 year old dremel for some vintage chassis mods.
On a side note, I need some options steering and wheels/tires. Not sure if I want to use the 3 piece...

I would be interesting in seeing some of your materials. Are they online?Charlie don't surf wrote:Cool project I have tons of reference materials if you get "stuck" on ideas

decal reproduction design "theft" he pulled all of his stuff off-line, I had most of the archives saved already before he did.
You give me a time period and I can screen-shot anything that you might be looking for idea-wise from 87 and after-

I hope you're not going to swiss cheese that very nice chassis.
. . . you have Associated Green Slime for brains. And not even new Green Slime, but old gooped out Green Slime.

That would be awesome, I'm looking for period correct high level racers from the late 1990 into 1991. Decals, paint schemes etc.Charlie don't surf wrote: A member had them posted on one of his sites, then after some type of shenanigans with

No swiss cheesing... I only plan to cut the sides down, and trim the nose and motor plate like they did back in the day.85Edinger wrote:I hope you're not going to swiss cheese that very nice chassis.

Thank goodness.
I like the idea for this project, I can't wait to see what direction it takes.
What are your plans for the body?

I like the way you think. I'll be watching this thread with great interest.uniquenamehere wrote:I've been collecting parts for a while now and have decided to build a "period correct" racer. Early 1990s style yo... and I want it to look like it's been raced as well.

for steering, the "new" AE worlds parts are great
I use the 3 piece front wheels still today, with my clay compound Proline Ions, at the local indoor track.

I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a set of the worlds parts. I'm not being to purist about re-re vs original parts. As long as they look the part...JK Racing wrote:for steering, the "new" AE worlds parts are great

I got some matching wheels from a local seller on eBay. Not 100% sure I'm going to use them... it's more for my OCD that the front set have a matching rear set. I think I might have problems.
Re: 1990s RC10 Vintage Racer Build
No, I agree. Cars really do look better with matching wheels front to back.
Can you still buy tires for the 3 piece wheels? Are they 2.2s?

I love to see another one saved and rebuilt. The black chassis always look very sleek!
