I've been collecting parts for a while now and have decided to build a "period correct" racer. Early 1990s style yo... and I want it to look like it's been raced as well. I've always loved the race reports from RC magazines of that era, and when I'm done I want to try to do a photo shoot as well. But that's a long time off as winter is about to rear it's ugly head...
I've got a chassis/transmission/universals and a few other items in transit right now. The turnbuckles need a bit of love from the dremel to make them look like they aren't 25 years old.
That is going to be cool, i am actually getting ready to do the same thing but mine is a gold tub. Just waiting on a couple items to get here to start!
I've got a few more pieces for this build chassis, transmission, universals to name a few. The motor place is almost too nice to cut up. Almost.... muah ha ha haaa!
Time to fire up my period correct 25 year old dremel for some vintage chassis mods.
On a side note, I need some options steering and wheels/tires. Not sure if I want to use the 3 piece...

I would be interesting in seeing some of your materials. Are they online?

A member had them posted on one of his sites, then after some type of shenanigans with
decal reproduction design "theft" he pulled all of his stuff off-line, I had most of the archives saved already before he did.
You give me a time period and I can screen-shot anything that you might be looking for idea-wise from 87 and after-

That would be awesome, I'm looking for period correct high level racers from the late 1990 into 1991. Decals, paint schemes etc.

No swiss cheesing... I only plan to cut the sides down, and trim the nose and motor plate like they did back in the day.

I like the way you think. I'll be watching this thread with great interest.

I use the 3 piece front wheels still today, with my clay compound Proline Ions, at the local indoor track.
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a set of the worlds parts. I'm not being to purist about re-re vs original parts. As long as they look the part...
I got some matching wheels from a local seller on eBay. Not 100% sure I'm going to use them... it's more for my OCD that the front set have a matching rear set. I think I might have problems.
Ok so I am starting a new build on an old buggy. I'm going to see how much new technology I can inject into this vintage dog. Lots of new tech AE stuff , such as VTS slipper clutch, B44 aluminum rear hubs with carbon c towers,b44 CVA axles, ceramic...

I'll be interested to see how that aluminum top shaft holds up under the torque of that 7.5 motor.
Here is the start to my project racer. I started with a Composite Craft graphite chassis that I drilled for the Stealth transmission. All of the nylon was already dyed, but very poorly, so I re-dyed it all. I used Andy's arms front and rear, Houge...
As much as I love modern buggie after coming back to RC 18 months ago after a 25 year break I still think the old school buggies look best.
Vintage racing is taking off in the UK so I though I'd better get a car sorted and as I've just about always...
It's been a good while since this car has seen any action but I feel this is long overdue. This car is an ongoing build in progress and after it's last (and first) run I worked out a few areas that needed more attention.
This car was pulled down...

Wow this thing is sweet talk about needle in the hay stack :o
Picked up this nice early 7001 10T with offset B stamp chassis, thin shock towers and half hex ball cups. I will have the chassis re-annodized and i need to find some narrow front wheels and tires and some correct rear wheels and tires.

Well I've got this all torn down and I have started to clean and it is in really nice condition. I will take some pics tommorow of the progress.
For this build I'll start with a “Cadillac” roller and finish with vintage hop up parts. Ultimately, I want it to be similar to a racer from the early 90s.
Parts so far:
Cadillac roller
Andy’s wide track front arms
Andy’s light weight rear arms...

MTV branded motor? Never heard of one. Probably a sticker but had to buy it!
I'm starting my vintage RC10 goldpan build. I have a set of the Proline 1.5 front knobby tires but need to know what wheels I am looking for to mount them on? Are they Tamiya or Proline? What car are they for? Part number? I know they won't be easy...
I'm new here, so yeah. Just putting that out there. But anyway, my goal is simple. I am about to purchase an X Y table for my drillpress so I will essentially have a 3 axis Milling machine to machine my own plastic, aluminum and carbon fiber parts....

I think that's an intesting project... that will end up in something that is anything but the very best Vintage RC10 buggy possible , simply because you've had the best of the best refining that platform for 10yrs to make it what it became in the...
