10L Bumper Question

Post by Phin »

There was the wide one with squared ends, the shorter one with pointed ends, and the really short one with rounded ends....in what order did they come out, and on which cars?

I only know from the early 10L kits I've built from a sealed box. The widest and the most narrow bumbers were included in the RC10L/LS kits. Where the only time I saw the middle size bumper is with the RC10LSS/LSO kits.

I always figured that the widest bumper was the earliest and the narrowest was the latest...seeing as the cars got narrower I just assumed that the bumpers did too. However, while looking at some scans, I noticed that it was the shortest bumper that was on the 10L in the earliest manuals, and articles.

If that was the case, then was the widest bumper the latest one, and did it first come out on the 10LS?

Rooster is correct. The original RC10L came with a narrow and a wide front bumper.

They did give you both in the kit. I think the smaller one is for the 10LSS oval car but I always used it on my wide cars. No need to cut the body for it.

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding....do you guys mean that the widest and narrowest bumpers were both part of the kits, but each at different time periods, or that they both came in the kit together, at the same time?

my 10ls came with both bumpers (wide and rounded ones) in the box. i don't remember if my old 10l kit had them both in the box or not. 10lss/10lso had the pointed speedway bumper.

My 10L SuperSpeedway came with only the smaller bumper of course, here is a pic if it

Here are the three bumpers

And here is the car on the box showing the wide original kit with a narrow bumper. I always assumed the wide bumper was the original but judging by the pic it must have came with both as mentioned above

My photo above is exactly what was in the box with the original RC10L release. I bought that when it was first released...well before they had the 10Lss.

Ahh okay. I never would've thought that two bumpers would be included in the kit.

Thanks all for the help. :)
