Plastic welding

Interesting video. I have seen this type of welding before, basically just heating up the plastics so they melt together almost like the very crude soldering iron fix, but it does seem like it may be a good weld for a hard plastic body. I will have to give it a shot some time.

I heard about plastic welding before but never used it.However i have benn building plastic models for over 3 decades, and about 12 years ago i started to use testors liquid cement and it basically melts both pieces for a strong bond.Also there use to be a liquid cement called tenex 7r now its gone, do to some dumb reason. Ambroid i was told is about the same, but any 1 will work, i fixed 2 big cracks in the front of a vintage sandscorcher front end, and you just keep wetting the area until you get a weld.Then let it dry sand and maybe some putty and prime and i PROMISE you a bond strong as can be.And you can back it up with epoxy and some thin strips of styrene. I have a sail boat that i repaired and its great, however the abs hull is weak from the 30 years of sun beating down on it thru the curtains. So i will have to fiberglass the complete hull, just to make sure she doesnt sink from a crack. Try my method and you will be satisfied.
