My Blackfoot runner

I snapped a couple photos of my favorite vintage backyard runner the other day and thought I'd share them. It's a Blackfoot, one of 2 that I got a few months ago in a trade deal. It has a bunch of period upgrades, including JG shock towers, CRP yellow front uprights, aluminum side guards (Parma maybe?), and Kyosho gold shocks in the rear and Duratrax golds in the front. Power comes from a standard 540, through a modern Dynamite ESC. The rear end is stock except for the "through-bolt" mod to hold the diff together; I've never had problems with the stock hex shafts on one of these trucks, at least with 540 motors, so I never bother to change them.

Nice!! I just got one too, not here yet though dont do too many wheelies with that body, that rear panel is apparently hard to find

This body is trashed, so I'm not too worried about it. It's literally held together with hot glue and packing tape on the inside. If it gets too trashed, I'll pick up a Lexan shell for it.

Runners are great . All it needs is a decal ( Sorry sticker LOL) set.

Looks great! I have a couple of Blackfoots myself. I really like original tire pattern, but I don't like how rock hard they are. I know the re re bruiser has a bit softer tires now but is there any manufacturer that makes the same tires but in a softer more usable compound?

Blackfoots oe tires are best for blackfoots.. the hard tire will not get traction and it saves the trans/driveshafts. if you want to run different tires i say you get a rerelease frog trans/driveshafts

That makes alot of sense. I've heard alot about the frog dogbones popping out. Does this still happen when you use the cv boots?

This particular one has Monster Beetle/Wild Dagger style tires on the rear. They hook up better on the grass. I've never had an issue with Blackfoot hex-end dogbones, only the diff gears. But keep in mind that no part of these trucks are really built for hot modern motors. You're better off going easy on the power, and getting something tougher (like a Stampede) for beating on.

That makes alot of sense. I've heard alot about the frog dogbones popping out. Does this still happen when you use the cv boots?

lower the car a bit and its fine. i lower most my rcs(even if its just mounting the shock out 1 hole on the arm like on traxxas stuff ) . the driveshaft angles are too much on most rcs.
