Please help me identify the model of my truck

Post by OGRC10T »

I just recently received a few trucks from a friend and i am am trying to identify them...I believe one to be an rc10t just dont know the exact model or release the a arms dont look like original rc10t's but i dont know for sure, took a stealth 2.25 trans with bushings out of it for a rebuild...the other truck i have no idea its a mid engine setup and the lateral shock setup on the front i have no idea what it is...last i threw in another pic of a pan car i got from him maybe someone knows what this is

The truck in the first pic is an RC10T with later run black nylon pieces and a factory green chassis and nose, the second truck looks like a cobbled together homemade deal but I could be wrong. I'm not too sure about thae pan car. Maybe a TRC?

the second one makes no sense, it's mid motored with a mcallister lowering kit. looks like someone put truck wheels on a onroad/dirtoval converted rc10. i'd get some proper tires and turn it back into a car.

Thanks for the info guys, I think I am just gonna strip the 2nd thrown together one down, it has a blown trans as well and doesnt seem like its worth fixing....the most important one to me is the rc10t of course, can't wait to get it up and running, it will replace my beat up one on the top of my rc10 food chain.

the rear arms on that odd ball also look like they might be off a kyosho. need a better pic of the rear suspension to be sure though.

Yea they appear to be all vintage RC10 parts used to build that thing, Like i said before kaiser put me on the right track and i was able to narrow it down better. I stripped everything off of it and posted the parts on ebay along with the pan car. That will help me finance fixing/modding the rc10t.

Still trying to get some exacts on the rc10t... i guess it really doesn't matter but its cool to know some specifics of what u got... I found in another post that the green tub was started in 1991 with the #7001 but i have been able to confirm that or find any stampings on the chassis itself..its crazy how over the years although the same basic platform remained the same there where so many different versions.

The Fluorescent chassis were released in 1991 as option parts, yours is a B stamp under the area where the motor would sit , they were never included with a kit and they were available until about 2002. Your truck looks a 7011 sport truck from the parts. But, your right- does not matter what it is as long as you like it.

Yes i do like it and i am very anxious to get it running, this is only my 3rd car (not counting the 2 i just parted out) My main car is a HPI RS4 Pro 2 completely hopped up. The second is a RC10 thats totally abused and pretty much ready for the scrap heap. My brother is the real RC Junky since the early 80's and he just finally bought electronics for 2 freshly built B3's so the rc10t will be a nice setup to run around with him at the local track.

Those dam outdrives are whats killing me, very hard to locate seems like it may be easier to just buy another truck as a donor but then i'll want to get that one running again too...lol ... all i know if that i had unlimited funds i would have tons of vintage rc10/t's they are my favorite and i prefer them over anything new

So glad i found this site very helpful and informative
When i do finally get it cleaned and together i'll make a nice post on it

If that chassis has scratches on it, have fun running it! If it's mint? I would not run it, find an old scratched chassis to run!

BTW, get a bearing set for your car. Much much better!

Yes it already has some scratches across the bottom so i am gonna run it... shame i guess cause it seems rare but thats what its made for

Yes for sure already picked up some Avid bearings to go into a new rpm case just waiting to find the outdrives so i can slap it all together. my stock outdrives got too chewed up by the bushings to use them again
