Help identify this 4wd buggy/truck

I have this Truck that started life as a buggy and I later converted it to the truck you see here. It is chain driven 4 wheel drive buggy. I bought it years and years ago, Put all the gear away due to other financial obligations and now would like to get it running and fix it up a bit but it needs a rear control arm due to a broken shock mount. I am going to pull it off and hit up my local hobby shop and see if I can find one that is close or will work. I used to have all the info on this thing but that was 10+ years ago and would like to see if anyone can identify it. I will know it the second someone says it but for some reason I just cant remember. Any help would be great.











Now to start cleaning this thing up and start shopping for some new electronics. The HiTec speed control is fried in it so a new one is a must. It got a little wet and after it went out is when it got put to the side for other projects a while back and now I want to get it going again.

I need something a bit old school to compliment all my new school r/c toys.

Now to see what parts and/or info I can dig up for this thing. I bought it used from a local track better than 15 years ago and it got used well for many many years and would love to get it going again. Im thinking a brushless system for this once I find some replacement control arms for the rear at least.

as luck would have it, I believe there is still an auction on ebay for a new set of the black arms, I'd jump on it if I were you!

parts do show up on ebay, but they are getting hard to find.

you can still get one way bearings, they are the same size as ones on a popular heli main gear.

you can get chain, i think from sdp-si.com or something like that, they sell all sorts of chain, gears, belts, etc.

darn, sorry for that.

in that case, maybe your best bet is to try and use a longer screw or something similar to get the shock re-attached. I couldn't tell from the photo, how bad was it broken?

Thanks for the info guys. I will get a better picture of the broken screw hole for the shock later today and post it. That zip tie in the one picture is whats just holding it for now while it sits on the bench awaiting its new life once again.

After I finish up a few other things here I am going to get started on this thing and I will try to get plenty of pictures.

Wow... I know its been a really long time but this project did get set aside due to having a child and moving twice and I plan to get back on it here soon.

I still need a rear control arm or 2 and I am going to pull it off here soon and go to the hobby shop and see if I cant match something up as the originals I have found are crazy expensive.

Now to finish the table in my office/hobby room and I will be able to really get going on this and get it back in action.

Also, If anyone know of any lines on parts for this thing that would be awesome!

If I were you and were impartial to the actual buggy, I would clean it up and sell it on ebay for a mint. I just saw a Radiant go for $400 or so I think. Then buy yourself a $100 RC10 or other runner and you'll have a few hundred left over to update anything you would like.

Parts for the Radiant are tough to find and the price you pay for them makes it tough to justify on a vehicle you still intend to operate, especially with the strain those larger than stock tires can cause. It's a very sharp truck, and would likely go for a fairly hefty price tag, especially with the truck conversion parts on it. The orange control arms from the Radiant pro might possibly be redyed to black, not sure?

The one arm is stripped and cracked where the shock screws into it so the shock wont really screw into the arm anymore. I have a zip tie on there now just to hold it but I have not used the truck since it broke. More less just to keep the truck sitting normal while it sits on my shelf with all my other old RCs to just look at.


Here is a picture of the control arm where its cracked and the zip tie kinda holding it. LoL



Here I kinda highlighted where it is broken. I might see if I can fab up some out of aluminum or something. Doesnt look like there is much to em.
