YZ10, full rebuild!
Re: Stoked, YZ10 score, Thank CATS!
'vette i think im sorted to outdrives, i have fronts NIP on the way, and the rears a possibility now. Enlarging, hmm, seriously buddy, the groove made by the shaft pins, especially on the rear, is HUGE, id have to file in maybe 1mm at least to bring it flush again.
Glad i bagged new driveshafts as ALL of these are whack, the UJ's are about to implode, so much play its unreal.
Anyhoo, Kart engine, i run a Rotaxmax Senior, which is an electric start 125cc power valved unit buddy, its not fitted in the pics, as ive just rebuilt my Kart too lol, i like things in order, but, we did put the motor back in yesterday (which has also just had a dealer rebuild) ready for next week at the track, if it ever stops raining here in sunny England lol.

OK, had a spare hour, so got it all down to this. Im calling this my board to jump off, and see where i land. Much will be thrown out, but the chassis and 'bones are new, so thats a bonus. Ill be needing a few screws where incorrect ones were fitted, and some cut down to cheese up threads, but no big deal, its all easy metric stuff.

"funny" that this was supposed to be a totally new built car as suggested in CATS own thread...

Yeah, so far Asso, ive compiled quite a list to do this properly.
New F/R Driveshafts (originals are badly worn, and left rear badly bent)
New diff pulleys (shot)
New diff outdrives (slotted and 'orrible)
New diff rebuild kits
New diff thrust race kits (originals missing balls and worn)
New Belts (really badly worn)
TS hubs (fronts were odd so replacing them all)
Rear camber link (original stripped and damaged)
Various layshaft parts (original non functioning)
Few new screws (some originals missing, some chopped to damage threads on fitment)
There are a good number of other parts, but those are down to me wanting this perfect as can be, ill get there, i always do

A few parts have started to land now, still quite a few to arrive, but im close to being really able to get into making this happen.

Ive built this layshaft/oneway from new parts, its what i had in my car years ago, and will suffice till i can get possibly an all new TCS.......i can hope.

Hopefully a lot more to come soon.

OK, bit of an update. Managed to get a bundle of parts together, thanks to some VERY kind and helpful members here.
New diffs built, these are 100% new.

Rear end started.

On stripping the rear susp blocks, this is what i found, odd turnbuckles and scrap bearings, just a plain bodge job.

Complete new susp units, only thing remaining here of what i bought, are the just the wishbones.

Starting to take shape now, cant work on the front as im waiting on a new bulkhead, a few screws are missing too as i await my bulk order of those. Now, it really will be "screw for screw"!

Busy bench.

More to come soon............lee

Re: YZ10, full rebuild!
Bit of an update guys, finally got the time and parts to get the roller almost ready. A few screws i still want to swap out but not much really.
Slight hitch on the shocks, there air filled right now, as the "new" LOL, shocks i was sold, really arent new, and the lower seals are pooped, so ill get to those later too.
Pink JC's are there for a bit of gawdiness, till i dye the two sets of OE Yokomo rims i have, car now has a FULLY new drivetrain, were nearly there now.

Re: YZ10, full rebuild!
Thank you sir, this wouldnt have happened without the help of some of you guys here, so HUGE thanks to the relevant bodies that have propped me up through this!
Next update should have rebuilt shocks, and, a new shell and tray. Which reminds me, shell design, was going for a Masami, but worried its a bit too cliche now, maybe something still very 90's era, opinions?
Was pondering a blue rear, flame orange to yellow midband, and white bonnet, just all airbrush and masked up nicely....not sure

Re: YZ10, full rebuild!
Fantastic re-build - great attention to detail too
I know the car has thrown up some unpleasant suprises along the way & has probably cost you a small fortune to get it to where you are now happy with it! But at least you can kind of call it 'yours' - & you must have a great sense of satisfaction in seeing it re-built to perfection

90's era would be most excellent!
Nice job Lee, that should be the description of a "Mint" rebuild.

Re: YZ10, full rebuild!
What direction are you going with it from here? Stock shocks? White center bulkhead cap? Stock wing? Stock hubs?
Re: YZ10, full rebuild!
For now, its pretty much as new, and ill run it. I would like to have original std shocks, i have a white centre bulkhead cap, but its tatty, and the hubs, i have new rears, but the fronts were odd when it arrived, i struggled to find new ones, so the Suzuki ones will get me rolling Reggie.Charlie don't surf wrote:What direction are you going with it from here? Would be nice to get it ALL back to OOB std's though, given the time tracking the parts down, ill pull it off buddy.
