Just given my new ultima a quick strip down. Inspected the gearbox & diff and re lubed it. The shocks got a re build and slapped up a quick paint job on a new TBG shell. New decals were added along the way. The only real problem is a snapped top deck which I have repaired myself. Seems to be ok for now.
It has had little use so it was a bargain. Came with vintage Kyosho saddle pack too. Not sure of what electrics to run but am thinking of trying out the Kyosho 16x2 mod motor it came with as the magnets seem good too and a full rebuild will bring it back I hope.
That looks fantastic. Looks like the upper deck has some stress in it at a few points but it should be fine. For the motor, I would just replace the brushes and skim the comm and it'll work great.
I just picked up a Ultima Pro at the local junk store, in a box with a radio shack monster truck for $20.00. All the Pro is going to need is the upper fiberglass tray and a body. Dave (DW911) has this upper tray for sale and I was wondering if any...

the pro's flat brown anodised alu chassis has the same wheelbase as a stadard or turbo ultima. But apparently that chassis was not the noe included with the pro for thUS market? Still I think the wheelbase is only different for the kelron and...
Just finished my Ultima runner. It's a Turbo Ultima with a few Option House extras (for example ball diffs) so I called it Ultima 1989. It was fun to restore and I used this website and Tamiyaclub for help, thanks.
See pics below.
Take care.

Thanks RichieRich!
I was looking through some other threads and I saw a wing like it. The wing had a MIP sticker on it, so I think that solves it.
I'm just putting up a couple pics of the cars I ran during my radio-silence.
There were more, but these are the only ones which are still presentable.
And finally: my current runner.
I took an easier road on this one and used the A&L transmission...

He did the 60.5 bones and 3 line axles, 2mm spacer inside and a +2mm hex outside. He measured everything up and said it works perfect for him. I'll try to get a measure on it overall with the RB6 stuff. He hasnt built his ZX6 yet, so I am sure he...
I just bought this Ultima Pro last week. It's a bit rough around the edges as you'd expect from a car this age but I think it'll clean up well. The main reason for buying it was the fact that I've never had one before, I was always into the 4WD...
This is my first post on this forum, and I apologize if my english is not 100%
I recently had a look around my old RC cars and found some parts from my first real race car.
This got me the idea to try to build a replica.
Prior to the...

There are some Ultima PRO XL for sale but they are either very expensive or in bad shape.
Found a old Ultima 2 on Ebay that I am going to use as a donor car for the parts that is missing.
I do not know in which direction this build will take, but I...
Well it's going to be an Ultima anyway. I picked up an outrage for CHEAP the other day. I also have gotten a hold of a Ultima Pro chassis. (I know that the XL chassis is generally more desirable, but I like a twitchy car!!) Got a few Questions...

I'd love to see a pic of the bottom of that motor guard, and how it mounts to the chassis there. I wonder if it would work for an Optima?
Erik - I still don't have a gear cover. :( ...I think the stock one will still fit. I'll be sure to let you...
This was bought off ebay last year as birthday present to myself to give me a large dose of nostalgia. I raced one as a kid back in 91-94 when everybody else had Schumacher cougars and rc10s.
I had to...

Hey mate
What bits did you use to do the shorty conversion mate? It looks great. I just picked up a pro with the same alloy chassis but was puzzled as to what holder I could mount but it looked difficult with all those slots for the saddle pack...

Fantastic looking car, although I'd find it really difficult to choose between those sets of wheels. Both sets look great. The second set look like Sees if I'm not mistaken?
Maybe change the wheels around each week so both sets get to go on...
