Lucky new owner of a Pro Cat!

Post by Brandon G »

Some of you on here might not like me for this but .......

NIB Procat shows up on ebay the other day. I don't think he knows what he has, he wrote in his description he doesn't want the kit, but he does want a RTR truck. So I email him about what exactly he is looking for. A SC10 or Blitz or something along those lines RTR.

I have been racing my Blitz in the past but have kinda lost interest in it with the revival of 2wd buggy at my home track. So I was actually going to put it up for sale before this came around. It started out as a stock RTR Blitz. I installed a Novak GTB with a Novak 10.5 motor, Futaba 9101 servo, Futaba 2.4ghz 2pl transmitter and receiver, a fairily new Makita Rockstar SC10 body, and new AKA Enduros mounted on JC Tense wheels. All in all I had a bit of money tied up in it, but not a lot. Cleaned her up, looking good and still being in excellent condition, he decided he wanted it.

So we trade!

I get the buggy a few days later, and the thing is indeed new never been put together! With a catch.... The front suspension bag, rear suspension bag, and 1 rear wheel are missing. :( I knew the rear wheel was missing before hand and that didn't bother me since I have a NIP spare, but the suspension parts would be next to impossible to get to make it complete. I email the guy and he was actually a really nice trustworthy fella to deal with. Tells me he is going to his parents house to try and see if he could find them. Got an email a couple of days later and he tells me the 2 bags were found and he even found the missing rear wheel. Received the parts last night. So it is now complete.

I am pretty stoked! I have been looking for one ever since the first vonats. Seeing what they are capable of as a vintage buggy really impressed me. I will post some pics and hope to post the build shortly.

Nice catch, Brandon. I saw that listing too and was next in line (I believe) if your sale fell through. I agree that I don't really think he realised what he had. Kudos to you, and at least it went to someone who will value it.

Superb! Looking forward to the photos and/or videos.

Will you race it and, if so, where?

I will definetely build it, but I don't plan on running it. If I want a runner, I would hold out for a used one. Not that they come around all that often.

My desire for keeping my NIB kits NIB has gone away. I don't get these for investment value, more for personal value. I had 3 Losi kits all SNIB. LXT, JRX Pro, and a Pro SE. Each of which I had a newly built version of as well. So, they got sold. I enjoy the build process too much to sit there and stare at an unopened box. Regardless of what the opinions are about them, and there are many, I plan on building ALL of my kits at some point in the future.. Now if I could only find the time....

That's exactly how I feel about nib kits too. The build process is what it's all about for me - I'm not interested in the "investment" aspect (if there is one) either. Appreciate that there are differing views on this and I respect that, but for me these kits were made to be built. The few nib kits I have at the moment are only unbuilt because I too haven't yet found the time to build them...but they will get built.

Looking forward to seeing those pictures of the build, Brandon.
