RC10L wing mounts ?
Fitting this car with a McAllister toyota body. Am I going in the right direction on the wing mount? I didn't want to drill any holes in the rear pod. So I made a mount using aluminum flat stock .

Looks pretty cool to me. I'd say you did the right thing. Looks more modified that way.

Re: RC10L wing mounts ?
To make it more modified id put a row of holes along the rear edge for wing placement especially with different bodies.DON

Re: RC10L wing mounts ?
Interesting topic. On a another very long-lived site about pan cars the subject of wings came up and the consensus was that "no one who was competitive" used a wing mounted on the pod. That surprised me because back when I raced it was considered to be essential. That particular conversation is buried somewhere in this gigantic thread:

That is what those tiny holes were in the left and right Pod Axle mounts - for your wing (not the best method)
. But there were many manufactures that offered a replacement upper pod plates (HPI, CC etc.) with provisions to run a wing. I always ran one on my 235mm cars, especially with the Associated TOJ, BBR Lola, MRP Spyder and Bolink 962 bodies.

Re: RC10L wing mounts ?
Everyone used a wing mount on the rear pod of an oval car back in the day. No one mounted them any other way, period. It wasn't until the last decade or so that people started mounting wings directly to the body.
2 holes in the top pod plate if they weren't there already. 2 Buds, TRC, Trinity or Tecnacraft wing bullets bolted to the pod plate directly, 2 square 1" holes in the rear window of the body and one Bud's wing poking out the back. We ALL ran them that way. Anyone who says otherwise wasn't there.

Yeah, but do you have the PROcar decal sheets to match?
Doseck was always doing odd things, like "clear" pinstripes, wheel covers and loud colors. I always admired him for the way he prepped his cars and did things no one else did.

Re: RC10L wing mounts ?
i'm lucky if i have 3/4's of the decals on that body, or for that matter, the ev10ss to mount the body on.

Re: RC10L wing mounts ?
Yeah they worked better on the 12L cars from which the 10L was derived from. With the 12L and the 10Lss it should be about right on centered.rctenracer wrote:So thats what those holes are for .
