Re: Gold Shocks
Well I scored a pair of platinum rear shocks, I'd like to put golds on all 4 corners but I guess 1 step at a time LOL.

Re: Gold Shocks
Having had one of these models (actually mine was a Lazer 2000) I, being a racer, decided not to put any money into it. The idea was to have a tub chassis racer, but found all the parts to be of a lower quality than i come to expect from Kyosho. If I were going to keep it, the only things I might invest in are bearings, turnbuckles, and a slipper of some type. I feel that the shocks quallity are on par with all the other parts on the car, and better shock would be overkill. That being said, if one breaks I would upgrade to whatever you feel comfortable with. I personally like the 3Racing shocks for the Lazer ZX-5 as an upgrade for these types of projects. They look and function great, and are available for less than $25 USD fora set of 4. I have used them on several projects and have been happy so far. -Jeff

Re: Gold Shocks
Yeah, Definitely would need to stiffen the chassis and the shock towers to get the lazer even remotely race ready. It's a fun car to have. Still trying to decide keeping it or selling it.

Re: Gold Shocks
Well there are allot of problem areas on that car. Like you mentioned, the shock towers are weak. But if you upgrade them, then you transfer stresses to the bulkheads. The rear bulkhead looks horribly weak (at least from what I can remember), and itergal to the tranny case. This being the case, a better rear tower I think would mean a broken rear tranny case. I think you would end up chasing allot of parts as you upgrade from one point on the car to another
. It is however a clean car, and you may look at it as a shelfer because they are somewhat rare- if you are into that sort of thing.-Jeff

Re: Gold Shocks
I'm into vintage runners so this'll probably have to go back up on the market for someone who wants a shelfer. Thanks for the input.

Re: Gold Shocks
Well I got rid of one of my projects but I did land a full set of platinum shocks. I know gold were always better performance in my opinion BUT still a rare find to have a full set.

Re: Gold Shocks
I have a set of the rear Duratrax Gold Shocks if you are still looking for gold shocks. PM if interested.
(I also have the full set of Kyosho Golds, but they are on my Turbo Ultima Pro XL, which would also be available if interested).
