Tecnica's RC10 -- 2010 VONATs Build!!!

Post by tecnica2001 »

Being a big fan of the Losi XX, I was never really into the RC10 buggy, until you guys made a fan out of me with some sweet RC10 (Old is New) buggy builds, I had to have my own copy of those cars. After some research, and bugging some of you guys on RC10Talk, here's what I'm starting out with:

RC10 Graphite Team Car
RC10T Chassis and Nose plate
RC10T Front bulkhead
RC10T2 Front Shock Tower
Aluminum Steering Bell Crank
Associated Viper Body
Associated Factory Team Shocks
RC10T rear Shock Tower (I want the graphite tower)
Klein Arms (ordered)
RPM 10T rear hubs

and a whole lot of stuff I might be forgetting

Still to come:
Powder coated chassis
JC B4 Wing
B44 Axles

and other stuff I can't remember right now....

I just hope I can take pictures as I go, instead of just building it and taking a picture afterwards...

I received the Klein arms the front end is basically assembled, I'll post some pictures when I get home.

As I was assembling the front end, the inner hinge pins from the buggy won't work with the klein arms, I need the 10t front inner hinge pins.

Do they sell the front inner hinge pins separate??

Do I need the 10t rear hinge pins??

Front hinge pins....

As for the rears, I believe AE used the same rear inner pins on the buggies as the trucks for the later rear arms. If yours were the early arms they will be just a tad longer than truck pins. I'm unsure as to which ones the klein arms require. I know the RPM team car replacement rear arms use the older, longer inner hinge pins...

Here's a long overdue update.

1. I got my powder coated chassis back, it appears as if they didn't remove the anodizing off the chassis, but it still looks good enough to be a runner. Can't complaint much, I only paid $25 bucks.

2. Used a counter sink tool to remove the coating from the holes and decided to counter sink a couple more holes.

3. I wasn't counting on cutting the chassis (not confident enough with the Dremel), but after mock mounting the body I decided to slam it. I think I did quite an OK job, not smooth like all other cars, but it works...

4. The bearings on the steering were worn out, so I decided to ghetto rig regular RC10 front wheel bearings to work with the steering. I cut down a pair of Losi XX front axles, used them as steering post, use some axle spacers to keep the bell cranks from sliding out, a couple of shims to keep it from binding, and voila.... new bearings and a silky smooth steering.

5. I used the RPM tranny brace and front bumper from the Ultra Molded Kit.

I still need the front hinge pins, which I ordered from Tower, along with a new set of Tie Rods, need to pull out the axles from my B44, mount the rear shocks, and paint and mount the body.

Here are some pictures, excuse the poor quality...

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. 8)

Lookin' real nice! 8) What did you end up figuring out on the rear inner hinge pins? It's hard to tell by the pic, but it looks like the klein arms might use the truck ones huh?

They are a tad longer than needed, but they'll do the job just fine. I'm just waiting on the front ones to arrive.

Couldn't tell you Rick, I've never had the RPM ones, besides the different materials they're made out of.

Klein arms: Delrin
RPM arms: Non Delrin...
