Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
Having seen previous examples of carbon fibre CATs, I thought I would go down the same route with my second CAT SWB. I arranged for Fibre Lyte to copy my spare set of SWB fibre-glass components. These included the top deck, chassis, steering rack, rear shock mount and rear suspension mount. For this build, I will also use a NIP Trinity diff conversion kit (or Buds equivalent) and a NIP CM tri-pulley ball diff conversion kit. Here are some pics of the Fibre-Lyte parts (they should be available on Fibre Lyte's website shortly if anyone is interested in doing the same thing):

Looking good Charles.
I was thinking the same thing to do.
Put some photo's on here when your building it.

Thanks, Jeroen. It was seeing your CF CATs the inspired me to do this build.... Will definitely post pics once it's completed.jeroen206 wrote:Looking good Charles.

If you can get your hands on a pristine XLS, then buy it! If you don't want it, let me know and I'll buy itisobarik wrote:Are they hard o get the machined rear drum diff ???

The machined rear drum are quite difficult to get hold of, I believe. I've only ever seen one for sale and that's the one you see in the picture....
Re: Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
Jeroen - that's an awesome build
Do you mind me asking the following:
1. which shocks are those which you are using?
2. did you design the battery holders yourself?
3. what rear and front top arms are those? They look like they are from later models?
4. which transmission plates have you used there (I've never seen those ones before)?
I should add that my CF SWB is unlikely to be built until the summer months so it will be a while before I get pics up to share - can't promise that it will match up to this build though....

Re: Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
P.S. where did you get those tyres from? I have a set of the JC 5 spoke on their way to me in the post which look like the same as your ones. Think the tyres would be an exact fit.

Here is the answer on your questions
1. This are pro-shocks from schumacher (U1963)
2. Yes , i designed the chassis , battery-tray and straps myself.
3. The front and rear arms are Bosscat ones (U1275)
4. Transmission side plates are original black Procat plates (U623)
Tyres are full spike from schumacher (U6595-U6596)
The car is fitted with MMS front and rear Diff , and layshaft.
Alloy rear eccenters (U366) , Bosscat hubs (front+rear).
Re: Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
Really like the purple touches too, they go well with the CF look.
Did you use and original SWB belt or one of the repro ones from Stock Drive Products which are 0.5mm wider (and better for running lipo/brushless, presumably)?

I used a original SWB belt , it just fit in the MMS frontpulley.
Re: Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
information for Charles

Left one is for 48d.p and the right one for (Cat 32dp and 48dp RW gears)

Almost ready to run , only have to wait for the body to arrive and the beltcover so i can install the Esc.

Re: Carbon Fibre CAT SWB
Thanks a lot, Jeroen. Much appreciated!! I'll take a look at my layshafts and see if I can fit them to my CF SWB. The only sticking point might be the 32 Dp if that's the one I need (not sure I have one of these - will need to check and see)
