Have you ever? Lazy man's steering servo screw driver hole

Have you ever drilled the side of your chassis to have easy access to adjust the servo saver/belcrank? I see it A LOT on used RC10 chassis and for whatever reason it really bothers me. Maybe it bothers me more now than it did way back when, but I can honestly say I've never done it.

I had drilled a hole to adjust my Futaba MC8 esc pots back when we still ran the batteries sideways. That ESC was the size of a cigarette pack and only fit one way in there.
I never had any servo saver other than the stock one bitd-- we would just add more rubber o-rings.

that was the hole to drill back in the day...(i did it)..if you think about it you can see why it was good to do . if you find a chassis with this hole as long as its not too close to the top of the chassis its ok with me . now id love to find a chassis with no extra holes... when i do i will not do the Lazy man's steering servo screw driver hole..

yep i did it.. then a coupe weeks later i cut down the sides of the chassis and that got rid of the hole

i drilled my com com lazer tub so i could get to the pinion easily

Sorry, didn't mean to pinpoint. It was the most recent one I've seen it done to. I guess I resisted drilling the chassis if I didn't have to. I can understand the convenience, but I opted to always power up the servo first before mounting to get everything aligned before bolting it in.

dont be sorry, it made my day.. i thought it was funny .. i cant understand how(so far) 60% say no to the drill but i see these holes all the time on ebay...

yes between that switch mounts and cheese grater holes i guess thats why unscratched mintys go for so much

cheese grater holes stink but i really dislike SWITCH MOUNTS!!!!!!!!! about a year ago i got a team car online for a good deal, about $75 shipped .. the pic was not that clear but i wanted it... i get it and see no extra holes but a switch mount on the side... that was a sad day... since im venting id like to add my other chassis upsets... oval rear arm mount holes (this is made from people driving cars with loose rear arm mounts) extra holes drilled very close to stock holes in chassis. this is seen alot near servo and battery mount holes.. and the real chassis killer ,side of chassis cut to fit battery sideways..

I think treehugger had it right... we actually ran these things bitd. You made modifications to your gear to make it easier to play and sometimes to experiment to try to get an edge. No one was thinking, gee when I'm 40 or 50(ish) I'd love to put one of these toys on my shelf and look at it.

Oh, and my original runner has a switch mount hole.

It took me a few chassis that had that hole just to figure you what the hell it was for

I imagine the hard core racers found it handy, but I never even entertained the idea of putting that hole there.
