Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
looking at the more detailed photos of the ruyz camel ff buggy i'm seriously considering it. just have to look at the photos and figure out what'll work and what won't. since most of the parts are a pain the ass to get.

last night i couldn't sleep a damn wink. i couldn't stop thinking about this ff buggy. i was drawing up the car in my head, thinking what would work what wouldn't.
i want to try something along the lines of this buggy.

this guy obivously put in work with the metal. but if you look at his later photos of the buggy at the yatabe arena, you could see the chassis has been tweaked quite a bit. probably from the jumps and hits. look at the rear tires and how they're kicked out to one side. so metal would be out of the question for me. fiberglass, nylon, delrin, and some aluminum pieces is what i'll try out. so if anything takes a good hit, or from wear, i could change the part easily.
i'm still trying to figure out how to setup the rear suspension. i want to make it accessible, to adjust the toe and camber. where to mount the shocks, and how that'll affect the full range of motion or the opposite. this area of the buggy, in my mind, should be important. because there's practically no weight back there and it has to work with the front suspension.

i was thinking about how wide the buggy should be. the ruyz buggy looks to have a shorter width like a touring car. i started thinking about the current buggies and their widths. that would increase the handling, and greatly benefit in the corners. but not too wide. i'll see what i can brainstorm and draw up tonight. honestly it shouldn't be that hard to come up with something. with all the buggies/parts out there, and accessibitly to machinery more available than in the past, people should come up with some interesting projects.

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
You could lengthen the chassis (like a skid plate) and mount the lipo between the rear tires, up to the motor. Literally like turning a current RWD around and add steering...

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
i was considering that. but if i put lipo, nimh, or even nicads there is a chance of the rear end bouncing around. and/or cause oversteer or other problems. still trying to figure it out.JK Racing wrote:You could lengthen the chassis (like a skid plate) and mount the lipo between the rear tires, up to the motor. does anyone know the type of body the ruyz buggies were using?
