Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
I'm looking to get something different and remembered a couple of companies made offroad cars that were front wheel drive. The only offroad car with front wheel drive that I can remember is the Kyosho Maxxum. What other front wheel drive offroad cars were made? Also how did they run (I assume not well)?

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
Some of the magazine articles and posts here were one-off scratch-builts. Nichimo made the Spirit FF, one of the few FWD kits that I ever saw. Good luck!
The preceding contained opinions, beliefs and thoughts that all may not agree with. No offense was intended at any point. Carry on.

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
you're going to have to search hard but there are actually some pictures of multiple FWD buggies on this site.
One of the better threads is here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5595
MRC is a french company that had a commercially released buggy also.
In Japan a couple guys used the optima mid gearbox for their FWD creations. I unknowingly copied that idea for a FWD tourer prototpye many years later

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
I was given the radio to drive that one round the track a couple times. You had to really accelerate on the bumps to make it jump well: fun but a little hard when you have a turn close behind it.
The Paranoia spur made an end to the fun when it cut a nice groove into the pinion.
The car was made of bits and pieces from different cars and lots of dremeling. The gearbox was from an optima mid.
The track owners also had a home-made FWD I have pictures of. Not sure if I've posted them

Re: Front Wheel Drive Offroad?
They look similar, but the car in pic 13 was built much much later. The owner built it shortly before the event.
That Ryuz car ran in the vintage class at Yatabe not long after I left. The detailed pictures are on time-tunnel and on this forum (page 3 of the link I posted further above)

I wonder if the FWD rigs wrk better with those long traling arms or more of a traditional arm set up in back.
