Bearing sizes for a 6 gear RC10?
I searched the forums and internet and can't find a direct answer...What sizes and how many of each bearing do I need to outfit an original RC10 with the six gear transmission, no bellcrank steering? Boca Bearings has "kits" for the RC10, but the bearings and sizes were different for the regular old rc10 and the championship edition, which I thought would use the same and it threw me off...thanks.

six gear bearings
5) 3/16 x 5/16 flanged
2) 3/16 x 5/16 plain
1) 1/4 x 3/8 flanged
and i f you want to put the bearings on the outside instead of the dust sheilds....
2) 3/8 x 5/8 plain (same as the stealth outdrive)

You will need four 1/4 X 3/8 flanged bearings. Install them on the inside and the outside of the hub.

This is a great thread....Anyone know the bearing size for the front wheels? I believe that looking over this thread, if I order all the bearing shown plus the ones for the front wheels, I should have all I need to replace all the bearing, correct?

Re: Bearing sizes for a 6 gear RC10?
it depends on which front wheels you have. they could be either 3/16 x 5/16 flanged, or 3/16 x 3/8 plain.

Thanks for the reply Scr8p. They are the original wheels and the bearings are flanged, so I'm going to order the 3/16 x 5/16 and hope for them to work.

Does anyone know what size bearings to use on Houge bellcrank steering?

Which bearings do I omit from the earlier list above if I want to use the 3/8x5/8 plain instead of the dust shields?LowClassCC wrote:six gear bearings

Re: Bearing sizes for a 6 gear RC10?
you don't omit any bearings unless you do the mods in this thread:
http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=13836&hilit=brass+tubing&start=15
otherwise, the outdrives will slide in and out.
another option would be to fill that space in the outdrive with a brass bushing drilled oversize.
with tolerances on bearings today, you probably won't notice any binding due to three bearings being in the assembly.

If you intend to run the 6 gear tranny, I'll suggest that you go on with the mod. It'll be alot smoother and you will have longer running time on the idler gears. I've done that on my 6 gear tranny and no regrets. PS: As long as you are not gearing up with brushless setup.
