Re: Ten4.1 or How I learned to stop worrying and start cad'ing

I feel so attacked.. Am I the ONLY person on the planet who was excited and still hyped over the mip speedtip handle? Hell I use mine almost daily building Tamiyas with a Milwaukee phillips bit tip in it. Jeff. It's looking great. I am liking the idea of injection molded parts. All my screwdrivers ...

Re: Thorp 64 pitch gears - what are the disadvantages

What Jeff said. While the brushless might be around the same top speed they are much more aggressive at lower RPMs. Remember electric motors produce 100% of their torque at start up which can decimate 64p gears pretty easily, especially if there's jumps involved.

That was unexpected!

And the box has considerably less typos on it.

Re: 870c ReRe?

What did you end up running? I pulled the trigger on the kit and grabbed the pink 27T brushed motor from Japan. I'd like to think the kit-supplied pinion would work with the car-specific motor. Regardless I'd be curious what you're running and what pinion you went with as I'd still like to try a br...

Re: RC10 - A Stamp Rebuild - '85 Jammin' Jay Halsey Tribute

might need to trim more from the nose's sides.

Also, if you're wondering why it doesn't fit exactly like JJH car keep in mind he trimmed the sides of his tub down a bit so the body does sit a tad bit lower than stock. You can see it in the article you posted.

Re: JRX Pro SE "we don't do shelfers here" build

Love this. I hate shelfers. I am currently building a second Pro/ Pro SE to retro race. I currently see an LXT transmission online. Will that work with all the PRO/SE parts an installation. I think it will but I am not totally sure. Thanks for any help. Good stuff! It's the same transmission. The o...

Re: The 1/10 Buggy Wheel Database!

I've added the Fan RC Yokomo YZ10 wheels to the list. These are interesting as I noticed they were a bit harder to seat tires onto then realized that they have a slightly oversized OD so they're actually 2.23in or 56.6mm.

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

I'm still having problems with the paint on this model, if you can believe it. I should've left well enough alone long ago. The problem is when the paint has the desired wet look, in other areas it's dry orange peel. I've decided I want to try a clear layer over the blue, and then polish out the cl...

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

If you're polishing it you'd want the Gloss one. [edit] missed the part where you said you already wet sanded. There are (5) cans of TS-15 Blue on this body, the chances of sanding through the base coat are next to none :D. I'll definitely get this thing as smooth as can be with the 3500 sponge, be...

Re: Tamiya Tyrrell P34 6-Wheeler - 1977 Argentine GP - 2022 Reissue

It's possible to make flat paint shiny but boy is it not the easiest, especially if there's small details you can't really polish too much. It would make for an uneven finish. I've heard that your supposed to put the decals on, and then clear coat over them too, to get the ultimate in scale look. H...
