Way different animals. You can use zx5 bellcranks with minor mod. The optima rear hubs can be put on a zx5 and use 70mm cvs to widen the źx5 rear track. You can use the velvet shocks but need a zxr front shock tower

Re: "Not my cup of tea" but I like it anyways?

Lol. It's away to absolve oneself of association with a certain style or situation but still show an appreciation for it. Not sure where there is a philosophical debate is. Like when people look at the stereo I built for my son's jeep. They can appreciate the work and craftsmanship but most would ne...

Re: shapeways durability?

Hewlett Packard is getting ready to release its first 3d printer and shapeways will be the first company to use it fro. What I read in an article. Sounds like it will be a game changer for durability.

Re: belt conversion for chain driven optimas?

One point to make about the optima idler is that it uses a bushing set up that can bind up. Not sure the size but you can replace the bushing with flanged bearings and make life easier. As far as the little lexan cover goes, while it may be a pain to install, it keeps dirt out of the gears. Both opt...

Re: always liked hot-rods, so I built this

Absolutely fantastic project. Beautiful job.

If your looking for more toe in the rear you could use the 2016 Optoma rear carriers as they have adjustable sleeves. I will be using a set in my lazer zx5 sct eventually.

Re: Optima is back!!

By today's standards the whole design of the car is substandard, but back in the day it was quite advanced. From a static approach it is a work of engineering art, but for practical application it just can't hold up. Too many fasteners and the alignment of the car is dependent on everything adjusted...

I can attest to savox toughness. Run one in my colossus monster truck and it's a powerhouse. With an amain discount was under 70$

I use a uni-bit step drill bit and then use a standard reamer to fine tune the hole.

Re: tools fer cheatin!

To me it's about fun and I don't race so it was never an issue for me. Back in the day I would try out different things just to see if I could improve the performance. Brush cutting, timing, etc. Never really did anything too technical as I was only 13. I am a firm believer in adhering to the rules ...

Re: lazer zx-r screws

Try the mini inferno screw set. They are not exact (heads are a tiny bit different) and not complete but you get a good amount. You can still get the fasteners from ebay by searching their size.

Re: Why does my motor only rotate backwards?

Let's not forget that a terminal on speed passion esc may not be the corresponding a terminal on the viper motor. There is no industry standard to insure a goes to a and so forth. Chances are swapping motor wires to check this will do no harm but you should always be careful

Re: Why does my motor only rotate backwards?

You probably need to change the motor direction in the esc program settings. I would try swapping A and C wires if you can't change direction. Shouldn't hurt anything to try.

Re: Getting back into RC, When did everything become RTR?

Regardless of whether it starts as a kit or fully assembled, I don't think that it really matters. My rtr rustler is quite upgraded and fun vs the kit wraith that never got finished due to its crappyness. Those are the only two rcs I have bought new. So by my experiences the kit i bought for a premi...

Re: Getting back into RC, When did everything become RTR?

I was in a my local hobby shop a while back and a guy was buying a Traxxas brushless sct rtr that was pretty expensive. I asked what other cars he had and he said " I don't own any, this is for my son I think he will like it". I told him "you better get used to the inside of this plac...

Re: Anyone good with car audio?

I personally would use a y adapter on the rca plugs going into the highs amp and use the gains to match the levels to your liking, but you would sacrafice the fader capability. The way you show the hookup in #2 should be fine too and you would still have fader. I would not run subs and rears off sam...
