Re: Rise from your grave!
Hey guys, I need your help again. I was running the Optima today and the car just stopped and I noticed smoke puffing out of the lemans 240 ST. This motor is original to the car and has very little use as I hardly ever ran the car throughout the years; these past few weeks are the most I've ever run...

Re: Rise from your grave!
Hey Myk, Nice Mid you have there. Going on personal experience I can say that the Mid can definitely handle a 13.5T brushless motor, I ran an Ezyrun ESC/motor combo in mine with a 5000mAh NIMH and it was pretty quick. For wheels and tyres, have you considered the Marwan reproduction OT-66 tyres? Wi...

Re: Rise from your grave!
Wow that is a clean car! Ok, so if I were to follow your route with the parts you used, is there anything else I would need to do to the car to prepare it for the new tech? What would be a less powerful motor than what you have, a 13 or 14T? Oh and I noticed my tires are shot. Are these specialty ti...

Re: Rise from your grave!
Hey fellas. So about eight years later I'm here again to ask for your guidance on my little 'ol Optima Mid. I had fun with it for about a year, running it with a Venom NiMh and a Tazer 12T ESC instead of the NiCd and rotary speed control. But, life and a demanding girlfriend got in the way and I for...

Re: 'Old Beginner' Checking In
Join the club Toby. I was cleaning out a closet and noticed my Optima Mid that got parked back in '90 or so. I hate myself for neglecting the car this long but I'm redeeming myself now buy driving it like it was meant to be. Is that a NiCD battery you've got there? I wonder if you've got an ESC in t...

Re: Rise from your grave!
Well I wanted to spare my O-mid's original wheels and tires that are still in pretty good shape, so I got these HPI Super Stars. I wanted them in white but they don't seem to be available anywhere. Also, the lack of spikes makes the car kinda slippery-I NEVER thought I'd see this car do a power slid...

Re: Rebuilding and refilling red Kyosho shocks - How?
2) How far are you supposed to fill these things with oil? The first two times I tried I couldn't get the cap fully on (could not be screwed down), and the third time I had a shock that had zero rebound while the shock shaft could not slide further than halfway up the shock body... Could som...

Re: will these fit ???
Man that DOES look good. I wish I had known about this before I gave up on trying to find tires and ordered a set of HPI Super Star wheels and appropriately sized tires for my O-Mid...

Re: W5061 Universal Swing Shaft
Press fit hubs. Pardon my ignorance but would you happen to have pictures of the two types? The stock hubs are what the Optima/Ultima use now; the only thing keeping them from spinning when your motor pushes the axles is the contact between the angled part of the axle shaft & the tapered hole i...

Re: W5061 Universal Swing Shaft
So these will fit in my Optima Mid? If they work better than the standard dogbone I'm in! Are they for the front or the rear? You'll have to measure your existing dogbones from cross-pin-to-cross-pin. If they're 62.5mm, these should work. Note that these require 12mm hex hubs with cross-pins to mou...

Re: W5061 Universal Swing Shaft
I love your project cyanide-that's top shelf work right there. Thanks for answering my questions too. Stumbling back into r/c 20 years later leaves me with alot of puzzles. Thanks myk! Hey, here's that 65.5mm set I mentioned earlier. As far as I know, there's no Kyosho CVD set in a size between 62....

Good catch-I didn't even see that auction. That reminds me of the Optima Mid LWB conversion kit going for about $300. I guess it pays to shop around once in a while...

Re: KRAZY KYOSHO
Coming back into r/c after 20 years I was stunned to find out that MISB examples of my Optima Mid are going for $1500+? What the hell, it's just a box of parts, man lol... that will make you feel better when you bash yours around the track  Paul Yeeeeeeahhh, believe me that's been on my mind. ...
