What front arms came on RC10 Graphite?

Post by Mtherr1988 »

Hello, could someone tell me if the RC10 Graphite came with the short or long front arms?? I've looked at pictures and it confused me even more. The reason i aske is that i recently acquired a graphite chassis and would like to piece together my own graphite car...only one I'm missing for my collection, or so i think! I have two A stamp cars that I'm thinking of using for the donor parts...which have the short arms. Id like to be as accurate as possible with the build. Thank you!

The graphite used wide arms. The TQ10 was available with both.

Using an A stamp to build a "correct" graphite car isn't the way to go. On top of the long front arms, the front shock tower, castor blocks, steering knuckles and axles are all different. Rear hubs are different, and if your donor isn't a late A stamp with the second series rear bulkhead and shock tower those would be wrong too.

So almost a year after this post, i believe i have a completed RC10 Graphite. I was going for a "team car" build and think its been mostly successful. Please let me know if i need to fix anything to make it right! Would love to hear some feedback, if any.

What a really great looking graphite you built yourself 8)
Nice job !
Got to be the first time I’ve seen that rear tire stretched onto tq wheels. Looks pretty good.
The only thing I’m seeing from memory that’s probably a little earlier then what you’ve built is your front shock tower.
You’ve assembled a team car so that should have a six hole front tower. The four hole one on your car would have been on a regular graphite though.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

Thank you! It was fun putting it together and its one of my favorite buggies in the collection. I love the box art livery. I'm trying to get a hold of a Novak servo to complete a full Novak suite of electronics, but they are so expensive! Thanks for pointing out the front tower. Funny thing is is that i do have a 6 hole in the parts bin and i will promptly swapping out the 4 hole! Haha, I'm not a huge fan of the rear tires, but its what i had. Do you recall what rear tires came in the kit? Were they the same as the TQ10?

Any TQ tire would be period correct. Really late kits shipped with a 6823 step pin.

I just double checked the 25 yrs thread and according to it, an early graphite team car could have come with a four hole front tower…..

6872 and 6822 are the tires you'd be looking for.

Yes, for an early kit that seems correct.

How accurate are you wanting?

Because the blue screws, turnbuckles, and aluminum bellcranks are also incorrect. Not really out of place, just not kit spec.

The green springs look like the newer type as well.

Should be for all cars up to the all black kits.

I'm just wanting major pieces to be correct. The 4 - 6 hole front shock tower for example. Not looking for 100% kit spec on this one. I do have all the parts you pointed out to put back to kit, though. I was unaware there were different versions of the green springs? How can you tell? Thanks for all the comments and replies so far!
