rc10ds axles 8868 vs ASC9670 b4 stub Axle /general ds axle options
Hello all,
I am working on assembling a DS conversion and have some questions on what options are available for axles, hubs and drive shafts.
I am looking at the stock parts, but would welcome suggestions on subbing in easier to source parts that could work with a conversion.
Stub Axles
Is the Ds stub axle 8868 interchangeable with the b4 stub axles 9670?
Hubs
It looks like the rear axle hub part is the same as the worlds car part 7368 and the b4 axles work for that conversion. So it seems that should work. Can the older style hub work with the correct flanged bearings? Can the b4/t4 hubs (9584) be used to adapt different axles?

Drive shafts
What are the lengths for the dog bones 8867? Is there a reasonable alternative for drive shafts and axles?

The b4 axles will work they will be slightly wider and need to use blue spacer. About 2mm.
All the hubs shown except the b4 hubs will work. B4 hubs pushes out approx 3/8".
The bones are short. Maybe like 30-35mm?

JC racing is working on Dual Sport universals as well as buggy and truck universals. Old school style, not the modern CV

Thanks for the the info on the axles. I have a set of the b4 ones so that saves a hunt.
Do you have any to measure?
So with regular hubs it would be somewhere in the 1 1/16 - 1 3/8 th of an inch
b4 hubs would be 1 7/16 - 1 3/4 (39-44mm)
is the ball size 8 mm?
I found a few candidates depending on the length
would yokomo cvd' sand customworks axles work?

I believe the rc10 and 10t universals are coming first, they were asking me to double check measurements just last week on the DS uni’s. Hard to say for sure but maybe shoot them an email (I talk to them mainly on Facebook messenger).

They made it sounds like they will know the release of the DS shafts mid month. The price seems reasonable from what they are targeting around $50 usd. I'll have to see what actually shakes out, but I'll wait for to see what happens.GoMachV wrote: ↑Fri Apr 22, 2022 1:13 am I believe the rc10 and 10t universals are coming first, they were asking me to double check measurements just last week on the DS uni’s.
