Help ID an Ultima Chassis-stadium truck

Post by etaeniura »

Hello all, I 'm hoping I can get a little help Identifying this chassis. I bought this a few years ago off ebay with plans to get it up and running as a backyard basher. Several years later, I'm getting around to it! I know it is definitely a Kyosho Ultima or some sort, but I have looked at all the manuals I can find online and can't seem to pin down exactly what it is. What has me confused are the front shock mount and the battery strap. None of the manuals or pictured I have found have the brown, straight battery strap and the shock mount joined in the center at the front. The closest I have seen are some of the Ultima RB models. Any ideas?

ANyone know where I can find a manual? I have googled it and checked the kyosho site, but no luck. ALso, is the gearbox the same as later ultima models, like the RB?

If you're refering to the RB5 and 6: no, this model is a lot older

However, you can attach a complete RB-5 front end and rear end (including bottom plates, suspension, shock towers, etc.etc.), since the tub is almost the same (only the tub length and battery hold down bars are different). But then you can better just buy a complete RB-5...

Didn' know that... than just updating the rear end may be the way to go for our friend here

Thanks for all the info, fellas! Actually the rear end is perfectly functional currently. I hooked up my old radio (Futaba MAgnum Junior circa 1987-ish) and a 19 turn motor and esc. Thii thing is actually pretty quick. But if I do destroy it, at least I know it's not a total loss.Probably a slug by today's standards, but I only have my Tamiya Hornet and Turbo ultimas as frames of reference. The rear suspension is a little soft, but some new springs and shock oil should fix that right up.

Naah, I actually prefer the older Ultima Outlaw compared to this.

And Jeff wants the Raider version
Vintage maniacs

I´ve got the Ultima version and to me it´s just an Ultima with a set of crazy offset wheels. And to add to that, built on a Kelron chassis.

This car and the Ultima RB are the direct ancestors of the Ultima RB/ST 5 and 6, so it will be pretty good.:) They date back to the turn of the century (1999-2001).

Yeah, since I have a Turbo Ultima, I new it was more modern than that, but in looking at all the exploded views and manuals, it definitely is very similar to the newer models. It's ok-I like things that are a little different-that's why I bought my Turbo Ultima back in the day instead of an RC10 (which everyone and their mother had in my area).

The Ultima ST Racing Sports unfortunately uses a lot of different parts (that are not compatible with the Type R). Try Kyosho Japan's own site and the Ultima ST Type-R GP truck manual - most of the suspension parts are the same as on the EP version.
