How to mount front 4WD wheels on a 2WD AYK buffalo?

Post by AYKBOBCAT »

This is for my AYK buffalo project. I've tried some tamiya TL01 buggy front wheels and tires on the car and it looks nice.

I know Yokomo had these 2.2 wheels with square adapters that let you mount "wide" front tires on the RC10 but is it the only option?

Front axles are 4mm on my car.

Thanks for any help.

If the buffalo has the same size front hubs as the radiant you can drill out some kyosho rb5 wheels. I got that tip from Mr. Harris. :D

The Buffalo doesn't really have front hubs, just wheels that house 4 x 8mm bearings. You need to find wheels that accept bearings that have a 4mm I.D. to slip onto the front axles, and whatever O.D. fits inside the wheels. Furthermore, because the stock front wheels are so skinny, if you mount anything more than a few mm wider, you run the risk of not having enough threads on the end to lock-nut your wheels on.

Well the tamiya "star dish" wheel for 4WD buggies would work fine in thems of axle lenght. It's just that they are made for 12mm hexes not bearings. So I need to find "wide" 2WD wheels with bearings... or find a way to fit bearings in a hex wheel... I know it may be too far fetched...
