Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
Hi guys!
First of all I would like to wish to all the RC10Talk community an happy and healthy new year, with lots of rc projects .
On my side I would like to start 2021 by building or rebuilding a XXT ( or a XXT CR or CR G+), just because I would like to have one more XXT in my collection.
The project is simple; I'm starting from nothing, I will have to find lots of things to build it.
It won't be a runner, just a shelf car, but it must be a super clean build.
The first activity will be to find a XXT as donor; it will help me to start from something.
It appears that the XXT is not very easy to find in Europe, so I will try to have a look on ebay or on vintage rc websites (for now I do not have access to the BST forum of RC10Talk; maybe one day ).
And then I will start to collect all necessary parts to finish that car; I already have some parts available (just a few, especially parts coming from XX's).
As soon as I find the donor, I will place some pictures here .
Best Regards,
Essejay

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
Good Luck with the project, I have my original one from back in the day when I raced, they are hard to come by (in good condition). I was incredibly lucky and managed to get a brand new in box XXT-CR about a year ago off ebay. Its probably going to stay in my collection unless someone decides to give me an offer I can't refuse. lol
Current Collection:
LXT (my original and 3 for parts)
XXT CR (my original and 1 NIB)
XX-CR
Clodbuster
Super Clodbuster
RC10LSS
RC12L - NIB
Blackfoot
Nissan King Cab
RC10 Worlds Car Re-Re
Bear Hawk - In transit

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
Hi!
For now I did not found any parts-donor, so I looked on parts in my stock and I found also some parts on different sources...
I just have to find some front A-Arms, a front bulkhead and a diff gear and it should be OK to start the build.
I will post some pictures in the next weeks, as soon as I find some time to start the build

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
OK, let's start from nothing!
As I will build the car from spares, I will try to be as close as possible to the stock kit (XXT-CR)
But as some parts are hard to find (front bulkhead for example), I allow myself to use aftermarket parts; for example lunsford turnbuckles, MIP shock shafts, jammin battery brace etc...and also some graphite parts, but not for the chassis and shock towers, as I may use this car as a runner.
First step will be the rear end of the truck

Second step : building of the rear (without transmission, I need to finish the building of my diff (Thanks Adam ) , it should be ready in the next 15 minutes!
For the rear motor plate, I will use a standard one (black), as I have no more machined parts, but as the car will be in "black version", it should be OK.

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
2 options for the front bulkhead : the first one would be to use the Sabulatech (Nylon), and the second would be to use the aluminium one from Rusti Design.
I will build the car with standard steel screws, but I may replace these screws with aluminium (blue) versions, only after the complete assembly (it allow me to make the threads with stronger screws...).

Hello!
So, the first step (to assemble something) is finished.
I built that car with a Sabulatech front bulkhead, but as I should receive an aluminium front bulkhead + a gearbox brace from Rusti design in the next days, I will update this post.
I will change also the screws to switch to aluminium blue, like in the 90's
Have a nice sunday,

Hi!
I added blue screws, the gearbox brace from Rusti Design and also the aluminium bulkhead.
So I will try to find a body, and then it should be OK
Have a nice week-end,

Great looking build. Always nice to see a XXT getting put together. They are such great trucks. The Rusti Design pieces look great, especially the bulkhead.

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
Thank you very much Adam
As I had some XXXT's white wheels, I used them on the car (+ Losi tires).
Now I will have to find a body for this car (probably a repro, it will allow me to use my paint scheme)
Have a nice week!

Looks great! Love the carbon bits, especially the battery brace.

Re: Losi XXT building / rebuilding topic
Hi!
Regarding the body, as I did not found a decent XXT-CR body, I purchased a TBG body.
Regarding the look, the rear is OK but the front is too "round" (I prefer the edgy shape of the original body...).
Anyway, If I find one day an original one, I will change the body; for now it should be OK.
Have a great week-end!
