Painted up a body for my T4

Post by RC10th »

Well, I finally decided it was time to paint the body for this. I always like the look of vitange and haven't really run the truck much due to the modern look. I found a square body that fit the RC10T4 really well. 6 colors is pretty ambitious for me but I think it came out pretty well...

Here is the truck it's for, which was thrown together with parts bin stuff that I'd never use otherwise. Power comes from a overly boosted 5.5T combo which is pretty out of control, I may tone it down to prevent the spectacular crashes when things go wrong, a little bump at speed is enough to send it sailing upside down down the road.

Nothing fancy or even exciting for that matter, pretty boring. You can see the body mount I had to make to fit the body.

Thanks :D There are 6 colors, sort of. I took the picture of the body all masked up before I decided to paint the bed flat clear, so I used 6 cans.

And all mounted up, just need to order MCI Budweiser decals for it now to finish it off.

The body really adds the "fun" to it. I also would like to get a set of gold shock bodies as they would really fit the vintage Roger Mears theme.

Very cool car!

I've got about the same combo but then as a T3. But those roadhawks arn't grippy enough for me... A softer compound?

Out of all the "onroad" truck tires I think the Road Hawgs are the grippiest. My personal favorite is the Speed Hawg which is slightly less grippy in my opinion.

If you wanted good grip I think you'd be better off with some of the clay compound offroad tires although tire life would be questionable.

Decals have been ordered, touch wood they are a good size and fit. :D

Still waiting on decals :( I've been pondering which tires to use, I want to use a set of strikers but I only have 3 and they are proving hard to find. I've also got a cut set of Duratrax Street Trac tires which look ok but unfortunately one is 50% worn from carpet racing.

I will also find a gold set of shocks one day :D

I suggested HPI Truck Super Radials or Proline Road Rage tyres.... but that's only because I had them available!

Can't find anything else at the moment......

Understand RJ is angling for a specific look for his truck.... can understand that, it looks very nice just with the paint scheme alone!

I like the old school look of the Strikers or Street Trac, which fit with the 80's theme. If I were to run a modern street tire I'd use the Speed Hawgs, but the only problem is I have about 1000 pairs of them already and want to do something different. The HPI's are a good option but too modern of tread pattern for this one.

I just hope my stickers would hurry up and get here......

Hi RJ,

That turned out nice, should really pop with some stickers.

I checked my shock bodies, I have a bag of 1.32's but they are all bottom load.

:)
