Re: Cure for the itch (RC10GT)

I prefer to put period radio gear in shelf queens and modern gear in runners. There's too many features available on radios now days to even consider using period gear LOL

Re: Dirtinator Euro

Euro versions were EFRA approved if I remember correctly. The armatures had different stack specs compared to what ROAR allowed here in the states. Every once in a while I still get motor lots that have a random "EFRA Approved" arm in a motor.

Re: T2 Resto/mod Project

Finally got a few hours to work on this and it's now a roller. Polished all of the edges and cleaned the tub up as best I could. Please pay no mind to the wheels/tires as they were the only thing I had laying around that would fit. Picked up a NIB graphite rear tower on Ebay over the weekend ($7.75 ...

Re: Dhawk Stealth diff gear

With the right parts, a hopped up diff can weigh less than the stock nylon gear setup. This is a diff from a T2 as an example. T2 Resto/mod Project

The T2 has always been one of my favorite Associated trucks, probably because it was the first team kit I ever bought myself. It was also my first real foray in racing stadium trucks. Before that I had been a strictly "buggy guy" as it was the best class at the local track. Once I raced ST...

Re: My hot trick chassis is missing holes

I gave up on servo tape a long time ago. I'm a shoe-goo man. Takes longer to set up, but it doesn't fail at the worst possible times. Plus, it's not phased by motor spray or other cleaners.

Re: Slipper thrust bearing?

I had numerous failures of that bearing BITD. The bushing was a far better setup as far as durability and consistent setup was concerned. You have to remember that the bearing/bushing is only spinning on the shaft when the slipper is actually slipping, so the wear from the bushing is minimal.

Re: Restoring an onroad conversion

I actually used dawn dish soap and water to clean the chassis  I just didn't submerge it in any way. As for the blue RTV, I taped off the area surrounding it and carefully used a hobby blade to remove most of it, similar to removing a sticker from glass. I'm hoping a shot of brake cleaner will ...

Restoring an onroad conversion

I'm new to this forum, and it's been a great reference for figuring out exactly what this is... A big thanks for all of the info you guys have collected! I'm a 25 year+ RC vet basher/racer/crawler that's been around the block a few times. I had a huge collection of vintage early 80s through 90s kits...
