4M Sprint car

Post by Soncho Ponza »

Some local boyz started a oval class at the carpet track. 2wd is the only real rules right now. Most guys are using b4 losi trucks and sliders. nothn to cool really  so i was thinkn bein the builder--(friends call me 4m  --mad man mexi machinist) i would get out my scraps old project pieces take my chain saw wood files and hammer and build a kick ass sprint car. i think it would the coolist too spank them all with an old buggy. Hell i might even use a stock 6 gear tranny  . hears the start  Image[/img]Image[/img]

Yap its from a sideways i started this project back in the mid 90s but never got to far with it. Greazer was that cage u got off Ebay pink in color. i saw one go a week or so ago for a low price wish i had bid on that one i will have to look for some stuff iv hacked out. most of the stuff was shock towers chassis braces when the GT came out my local track started running an oval sprint class il find that chassis cage and put a picture up. im workn on a T for racing this year similar to the ones i put in The 10t section. I also have a Buggy im buildn to race this year, and resto on an Edinger rig i think shes an earlier one. but i promise not to 4m her shes to cool with original old gold pan and all.

The pink one is it the one. I was the only who bid on it and got it for under $15 shipped. I thought it was a good deal.

Ya that was a great deal. Did a little more hackn and grinding. I think i will keep it a wingless sprint. I like the way the real ones look on the asphalt racn. I might redo the top plate in thicker material and brace a little different to stiffn it up more. Ill know after i make a piece to tie in the plate to the rear towerImageImageImageImage[/img][/img][/img][/img]

Judging by that last picture, my guess is it's a very hi-banked oval track. :P Seriously though, sweet build. As Mr. ED said, I'd love to see some of those other builds too.

it's hard to tell from the angle of the pics, but it sure looks like the cage is gonna be in the way of the spur gear.

that cage is awsome  thats about as real real looking as it gets. i did some motor mounting on my build and it is a little tighter than i want i will have some problems with a brushless. so i cut out a new chassis 5/8 wider tonight . did a little hole layout and gettn ready to start drilln then stop for night came to put up a post then saw yours WOW i like. those down tubes sure make the look i have had plans to make some for mine. but thats later. i toyd with doin this one mid engine but thought i would do the next one that way. once this chassis is all done i want to find some graphite to do a final cut nice part about g10 is its cheap if you (well i kinda did  ) screw it up. you have a good supplier for graphite sheet? I really like the laydown shock look with the front shocks under the body.
