retrofit xx trans compatible with xx trans?

I have a lxt and pro se that I am restoring I have many LRM trannies to use but, they have to have the retrofit trannies in them. ( My first lxt had one and I always loved the look of the little grey box sitting back there ). I do have a 2.19 retro box complete with hydradrive waiting for my pro se but still need the 2.61 for the lxt. I also have 2 nip retro grey 2.61 cases but no gears .
Do the retrofit and xxt trannies use the same internals? I never seem to see the retro's on the bay and I dont want to buy every part separate. ( gets pricey )

yes, same internals....I used to rob my LXT retro tranny for parts for my XXT....gotta love youth...
