Any Good Shops in NYC Area For Associated?
Any Good Shops in NYC Area For Associated?
Are there any shops in the NYC area that stock Team Associated kits? I am interested in the more race-oriented cars/trucks. The websites for local shops don't seem to show these. I am only seeing the RTR stuff listed for sale locally. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

Unfortunately, most shops are Traxxas and Horizon Hobbies products. You may find some RTR Associated stuff but whenever I want a more detailed kit I have to special order it with the shops I go to.

Re: Any Good Shops in NYC Area For Associated?
NYC area here. Again, some RTR associated stuff. Mostly Traxxas and Horizon products. The stores that are actually within the city limits are not really in places that you want to go walking around in. Redline in the bronx has a guy who hangs out on the block on Webster Ave that likes to OD and sometimes chase people around with a knife (box cutter) or a glass bottle. Hobby town in Connecticut has a very small selection of RC stuff. I haven’t been to Willis Hobbies since they moved from Willis Ave in the Bronx to Long Island.
Rovan and Fearless are custom shops in rockland county so you will need a car as you will with most of the shops on this list. But they really don’t sell Associated products.
Brooklyn Hobbies and Planet Hobbywood are in
neighborhoods.
My go to shop is Gallimods on the list but his stuff is mostly RTR stuff. Hobby House in Poughkeepsie NY is another option but Associated stuff is almost nonexistent in that store unless you special order it.
Some of the shops on the list also may not exist anymore.

Wow, didn't know you were from NYC, very cool.
Now... down to business... "Some of the shops on the list also may not exist anymore." ...If you see a shop on the list that's closed, has moved, or know of one that isn't even on the list, post the info in the directory's thread and I'll update it. That's the point of the thread, it only takes a minute to keep your neck of the woods up to date. I've gone through the list completely, twice, since I posted it a year ago and regularly update it as I find new or closed shops.
The more time we spend participating the less time we have for denigrating.

Been going to Brownies Hobbies since I’m 7 years old….
The only place for me, if John doesn’t have it you probably don’t need it

Otherwise if anything they would get it.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.
Hey Cru ! Go balls out

Re: Any Good Shops in NYC Area For Associated?
Ok thanks for the info guys. I am in Brooklyn and have a car so I will go check out Brownies. Also Northern New Jersey is doable if there is somewhere really exceptional to check out. I So I am hearing associated is doing mostly mail-order these days? I have been out of the game for a while clearly. That's a bummer if you have to mail-order parts too. Maybe that beats driving around a bunch like we did in the good ole' days though. Is the AE stuff as well regarded now as it was in the 90s? I have a RC10T2 and a RC10GT at my parents' place somewhere. I might go and try to find them when I visit my parents next.

Ha! My wife is from NJ. Whenever we took a tunnel to NYC, I'd razz her with, "NJ so bad, people will pay to leave!" But, just for a laugh. I got nothing against either, really.Brendan2904 wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2024 8:30 pmI have never been to brownies lol. It’s just that Traxxas is so commonly used around here that most stores carry a ton of parts for them and Horizon is the main distributor for our area that they discount most of their products so that it’s not a lot of profit for a shop to sell non horizon products. Like I said, for associated you will find mostly RTR stuff but not many kits or replacement parts without having that shop special ordering them. I use Gallimods in Somers as much as I can. The owner is good and knows his stuff.jackdc100 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 1:38 am Ok thanks for the info guys. I am in Brooklyn and have a car so I will go check out Brownies. Ok gotcha. Westchester is a doable drive for me at certain times of the day.Brendan2904 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 11:53 amIt’s just that Traxxas is so commonly used around here that most stores carry a ton of parts for them and Horizon is the main distributor for our area that they discount most of their products so that it’s not a lot of profit for a shop to sell non horizon products. I have no clue what the Jersey Shops have to offer lol. But looking online they might have some promising options. There’s a place in Middletown NY called T and T Hobbies that I have wanted to check out for a while but I don’t want to pay a toll lol.

Right now I don’t think he’s got much. If it’s on his website he’s got it, if not he doesn’t.jackdc100 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 13, 2024 12:25 pmOk gotcha.
