Help Identifying RC Car? and what it might need?

Post by Sollexe »

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for some assistance with identifying this car I picked up from the thrift store for less than $10.
Are there steps I can take to get it running, and test it?
It looks like I need a battery at first glance, before anything.
Any suggestions?
Does anyone know what kind of car this is? and any details about it?
I'm completely lost.

Thank you in advance! Please look at the pictures I have added.

It appears to be a Tamiya Rising Storm which is based on the DF-02 platform.

Yep, Lowgear is correct, it's a Tamiya Rising Storm DF-02 buggy. Very solid, easy to get parts for, and go well enough.

For less than $10, that's a bargain.

You really have two options:
1) Give it a quick blow of air, add a battery, see what works, and flip it online.
2) Download the DF02 manual from Tamiya (https://www.tamiya.com/cms/english/rc/rcmanual/df02.pdf - Gravel Hound, but the same chassis), pull the chassis down, clean everything up, replace the broken front tower and missing wing, and have a nice runner.

Up to you. ;)
