T3/B3 Skid Plates?

Post by 2BornotB2 »

Hi,

I decided to cracked open my B2-B3 conversion kit but after some heavy breathing and humming and hawing, I decided to leave my B2 alone and not convert it.

So now I've been considering to build up a RC10 B3 from the RC10B2-B3 conversion kit - the bigger showstoppers steam to be getting ahold of a B3 Stealth transmission and the metal skid plates and motor mount. I might have a line on a NOS motor mount plate in black, but the front and rear skid plates are quite elusive.

I'm open to using aftermarket replacements - does anyone make reproductions of the original front and rear suspension mount plates/skid plates for the B3/T3?

Thanks in advance,

I just did the same thing, built up a B3 from parts I had. Will you only consider new parts?

I found even the simplest things like the correct ball studs are hard to find and prices have gone through the roof.

At first I was going for new parts, but with the cost of NOS parts skyrocketing I think I'll entertain lightly used (but not overly scratched up) parts.. it would certainly make things a lot more economical.

Did you build yours as a shelf queen or a runner?

The price difference between mint and abused parts is astronomical. I had seen b2 lower plates going for $12 but they would need a full strip, polish and anodize. There is a company on facebook that has been anodizing RC parts and quoted be between 30-40 for similar anodizing. You would need to strip and polish the parts.

Sometimes it's less expensive to buy a car with the part you want and resell the rest.

If you are careful about it there are a number of thunder tiger, mrc, and customworks parts that can be used on a b2 for much less than NIP associated parts.

It will be a runner, I am just waiting for the last part - a battery strap of all things. I could only find the Thundertiger version and it has had to come all the way from Australia.
