Vintage Tekin receiver...is AM or FM?
Can anyone can identify this old Tekin? Not much labeling on this one.

It looks like a 27mhz AM, earlier that the TERX models.

Looks cool! Black antenna wire is typically AM 27mhz, right?

27Mhz? I don't think I have any transmitters that can wake this one up ..... Wonder if my Magnum JR would work if I had matching set of 27Mhz crystals. Currently, the Jr is on 75Mhz. I think I may have to start looking for a 27Mhz radio.

Mine is 27mhz, but they were available in multiple frequencies.
It is a Micro Pro, which is older than the TERX.

Oh, yours in bag has a red wire and 27Mhz. Interesting....now I wonder if the black wire on mine has any significance. I guess I could pop in a 75Mhz crystal and see what happens. You don't think it would hurt anything if I tried? If it were 75Mhz, do they typically use a green wire?juicedcoupe wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 10:05 pm Mine is 27mhz, but they were available in multiple frequencies.

Re: Vintage Tekin receiver...is AM or FM?
I have a newer TERX 75 that has a green wire, which follows the Novak trend. However, I believe that the guy at Tekin was known for kinda doing whatever.
I can't see having the wrong band crystal installed causing any problems. If wrong, it shouldn't communicate.

Re: Vintage Tekin receiver...is AM or FM?
If it is 27mhz, that kinda makes things easy.
Pretty much all 27mhz (AM) hobby grade stuff works together. You can mix and match transmitters, receivers, and crystals.
In addition to the six common channels, there are six more "half channels". You can sometimes find these crystals with X Mod stuff. I recently picked up a near complete set.
Just don't buy a X Mod transmitter. The crystals work but the transmitters are different.
