jwscab's Cliff Lett ROAR 90 replica
Well, I always loved the Cliff Lett ROAR 90's winner, with the red white and blue body with sharpie rivets around the window. When I saw that front nose plate with the big swoop of a notch cut in, I did the same thing to a nose plate, which I think was the first RC10 chassis had. It's been floating around in my stuff ever since.
Totally unrelated at the time, I had an opportunity to pick up a lightly used CE car from a member here, it sat for quite a long time at a great price, and I finally caved and bought it.
I know there have been a few replicas even recently, with Orangemazda making a really sweet one, so I kept seeing the car popping up and watching his progress.
As things work out in mysterious ways, I was going through boxes of stuff and bits and pieces started falling together. I realized with a very very few minor pieces and even decals, I would have enough for this bad boy.
This is how the car has progressed since then, the quarantine has certainly allowed me to pop into the workshop much more quickly through the course of a day so I was able to get this practically finished. Enjoy the pics!!
One last note, many thanks to the guys on this board, for all the help tracking parts and information!!!!

Re: jwscab's Cliff Lett ROAR 90 replica
A gathering of parts and modifications of said parts. I'm really annoyed, the white parts I am using look really decent in person, but my camera and lighting in my basement makes the colors all over the place with some of the pieces looking quite yellow. Once I get it to a roller, I'll have to take some sunlight pictures......

chassis machined on my milling attachment for my lathe. that is about the extent of the milling capability of this setup.

Re: jwscab's Cliff Lett ROAR 90 replica
Thanks! Yeah, I'm usually not a replica guy, this would probably be the only one I'd like to do....although one of the masami cars might be cool. But at least I think I can swing this paint job.....
AND yes, going to Vonats with Jason for the past few years I get to help make a part or two, but also check out up close all the replicas and 'modern interpretation' builds he's got. definitely a challenge and appreciation for the effort and skill.
This guy has maybe 70 percent used parts, but I'm going for what the car might have actually looked like after all the racing it would have done.
as everyone knows, the hardest part is the shocks and caps. I ended up using a tamiya olive drab and some semi-gloss on the caps and rear springs to approximate the hard coating/early springs. It is actually a decent match to the olive shock bodies but it's the best that can be done by me. when you look sideways and squint, it's close-ish.

it's a roller now! I stuck in on my lathe under LED lights, the fluorescent ones just put yellow on everything.
On to electronics and then eventually paint. That last part might take a little while

Agreed. For a shelfer, it's totally perfect solution to add some paint. The Tamiya olive drab matches really nicely with the mid shade hard anodized shock bodies.

Nice and tidy and everything in it's place. Looks great Joe.
The nylon parts appear to be the correct bone color.
Very nice.

Re: jwscab's Cliff Lett ROAR 90 replica
Thanks!! I managed to find an original sheet on eBay a while back. Hopefully I don't screw it up. Do you have the correct dimensions for it? I can measure my original to make sure you have the scale right.
