Due to only being able to sleep about 2 hours a night, I have to find something to fill in my time while I'm up, and try to be productive instead of watching movies and eating chips.

Here's what I've gotten done so far. I need to figure out a way to mount the front buggy tower to the truck bulkhead. That was my bad ordering a buggy set, time to drill holes in a pretty CF front tower, oh well.

This KnK stainless kit is awesome, fits excellent, well worth the 20 bucks. Front arms are RPM Nitro Sport, rear will be RPM Bandit arms.

Still needing to get the transmission together, have not opened my computer since Mom was put in the hospital, I'll motivate myself here soon enough.

And yes, I did cut up an OG bulkhead. It's what I had on hand, and in my eyes, just another part.

Update. Wheels came in. They are RPM #81021 RPM "Starz". Yes, they are truck offset, I wanted something wide for brushless power, but vintage. Both the Proline 5 stars and these RPM wheels are 2.2". Plus they came with an awesome old school rpm sticker. The body will end up being a slammed Turbo Mirage or B2. Power will be coming from a Turnigy or Hobbywing 13.5 combo with a 2s of TBD mAh. I will race the snot out of this thing.

Do I expect to win? No. Do I expect to have a metric crapton of fun? You betcha.

I have a tub and a buggy plate left over, along with those stock arms. I'll probably end up making a short arm runner to let my cousin use so I have someone to race.

That bulkhead was dyed anyway so no harm done. After all, it's your car so make it the way you want.
I have a short arm runner and I love how that car drives -- takes me back to the good ole days.
Racing at the local club level is less about the age of the car and more about tuning and driving skill.
You might be surprised at how well you do after you've gotten the car sorted out.

That's what I was hoping for. My Father and Grandfather are Chassis specialists so I have a wealth of knowledge at my side. Plus he raced for about 15 years with different variations of RC10s. In his opinion the rear wheels are a bit wide, but I just figured More Traction > Less Traction. Plus it looks cool.

I'm trying to figure out a way to lighten it up. I'm thinking of just running this one as is to get used to the handling and such, and then mill out a custom chassis plate out of 3 or 4mm thick Carbon Fiber Sheet.

I was thinking about some holes since this chassis is pretty gouged. Buuuut I think I'll spare this one. If I manage to find a thrashed B stamp, then I'll use it. I wanna get this sucker light. I'd like to get it down to B6D weight, which, by the way, does anybody have on hand? I cannot find it. Amain just says "Varies" But what's a general weight for the B6D? That's what I'm up against, as well as some newer Losi and I think Tekno? Eitheir way, I just wanna go out and have fun in 2WD Mod.

It's kinda strange but when it comes to weight reduction, you will reach a point of diminishing returns with regard to improved handling. I still run my original RC10 and it's evolved over the decades to become the lightest 2wd car I have. The chassis is carbon and nearly every piece of hardware on the car has been replaced with something lighter yet the car hasn't really gotten any faster nor has the weight loss significantly improved handling. In fact, depending on track conditions, some days it can be a real handful.
One big disadvantage of running on a backyard track is that the surface can be very inconsistent; temperature and humidity changes so the dirt is never the same from day to day. However, my heavier relatively stock Worlds car always handles pretty much the same - it's very predictable and that predictability breeds confidence so I'm able to push it harder and take risks I wouldn't do with my lighter car.

That's what I was originally thinking. With all of the lighter parts I'm using, I dont think weight would really be that much of an issue.

Project is on hold once again. I ordered a set of rear hinge pins, and they were out of stock of AE ones, but had RPM pins. So I ordered a set. But they're too long. Woopsies.

I'm also out of RC funds for a while, so until I can scrape together some dough for hingepins, it sits in it's box. Rough.

I did have a set of wheels and tires come in though. JConcepts 2.2" with a set of lightly used Dirt Webs. I needed a set of wheels for bashing and speed-running and these were dirt cheap. I know, not very punny.

Anyways, I'll try to do what I can, I started to pick and sand some of the bad anodizing spots, and this tub has a bad case of Aluminum Worm. So I'll be drilling my holes in this one and not my other, cleaner one.

Since i cant really do anything else, ive been working on the Tranny design. Still gotta mess with gear mesh and clearances a bit, but for a first print, i think it was really darn close.

I'll modify this Diff so it is sealed, and then I'll have a Stealth-ish Transmission with metal gears (i know- I know- Nylon is better for longevity, but ive THRASHED my slash wirh no problems.) And a modern slipper. Once i finalize the design ill do some testing, and if it comes back well, I'll release the files as an .STL for you folks.
