Re: Traxxas Boats
Perhaps I am the only one.

I have owned an original Kyosho Jet Stream 800 for more than two decades. It is a fun boat, but its performance has never been very stellar. Last year I decided that it was time to start looking for something faster.
I am normally not a fan of Traxxas, but when they released the DCB M41 I was drooling. I have always lusted after Dave's Custom Boats, and at the time the M41 was their flagship model. The Hawaiian graphics on the Traxxas M41 (actually a Courtney Force paint scheme) are either "love it" or "hate it" for most people. I happen to love it, but I could never convince myself to spend $450 or more for the boat plus another $120 or more for batteries.
A few months ago I managed to get my hands on new Traxxas limited edition Snap-on M41. This boat is so damn sexy! I find myself constantly staring at it no matter where it happens to be sitting in the house. On the water it is even more beautiful, and I have been pleasantly surprised by its handling and speed.
After playing with the M41 for a while, I decided to add a Traxxas Spartan to my fleet. What a piece of crap! Most guys complain about chine walking problems at full speed on 6s, but I cannot even get my boat to full speed. Every time my boat approaches full speed on 6s it blows over backwards and the hatch rips off. Apparently it takes a lot of aftermarket upgrades to get the Spartan to do what it is supposed to be capable of doing in stock form. And so the modification journey begins...
Both good and bad, I am completely hooked on RC boats right now. My RC cars and trucks are suddenly collecting dust, and it is not the kind of dust collected while in the dirt.

I will try to post some pictures in this thread once I find a suitable replacement for photo****et.

Re: Traxxas Boats
previous owner of said traxxas boats...I might still have some parts to it though
boats are good if you have the ability to run them. I got bored with boats early then once I sold mine the guy that bought it talked a bunch of his buddies into boats...

Re: Traxxas Boats
This thread just made me remember that I had a Traxxas Nitro Vee back in what seemed like the late 90s! I can't recall exactly how I got it but it was either a trade or really cheap. It was missing the electronics, and I only had it for a very short time before I sold or traded it away.
I was going to join there a few days ago to ask some questions about the boat I recently got but they want you to use your real name to sign up... No thanks. I suppose I could use a fake one. Instead I signed up on another boat forum that's been around forever in which I used to post at back in the early to mid 00s. So far I've gotten zero response to the thread I started.marty slater wrote: ↑Mon Jul 31, 2017 7:49 pm O ya you might look up

Re: Traxxas Boats
Nice! There is something very cool about the older boats.

Do you actually notice a difference in the way she handles with the turn fins?

Re: Traxxas Boats
Yes, there is a huge difference with them installed. With out, the boat would turn on a dime and not look scale and with the turn fins it will not do it. Turning is a lot better and more predictable. It tracks straighter as well.
I'm still running the 550 marine motors and EVX Marine ESC, on two, 2S lipos. It moves out really well. Only other upgrade I would consider is upgraded sharpened and balanced props.
